The day I left the hospital I was 284 and I am down to 197 as of today. How much protein are you getting in? Are you still drinking shakes? I was not drinking shakes anymore just trying to get it from solids. Sometimes I start back from the beginning. I found myself in a little bit of a rut and started back to the basics drinking shakes and so on. You are doing pretty good though, 59lbs from surgery is great and 79lbs from start is wonderful!!

Topic: Sometimes I think I got "Punked"
I am just curious does anyone out there feel as though their new stoma is not restrictive?  I had my gastric bypass on 01/20/2010 and I can count on one hand no exaggeration, how many times I stopped eating because I felt full.  I feel like I wa*****ed sometimes.  Going in after the seminar and whatever other research I conducted, after it was all said and done , my new stoma was going to be the size of a grape (LOL) and I was going to reach that feeling of satiety quicker after surgery .  Well, that's not my story.  I literally stop myself from eating when I think I've had enough without no real help from my pouch telling me when to back off and for the most part, alot of the time I am still hungry. But I just suck it up and just bite the hunger bullet for fear of overeating and stretching out this new alleged stoma.  Don't get me wrong I am losing the weight, if you ask me at a snails paste, but I am losing none the less.  Prior to surgery I managed to lose 31 lbs for an average monthly loss of 5lbs and since surgery I have lost 70 lbs for an average monthly loss of 14 lbs.  Even though the average weight loss has increased since surgery I feel like the tool that should be aiding me (restriction) to obtain my weight loss goals is failing me and I am doing on my own what I could have done without my anatomy being altered.

Topic: T-Tapp workout and brushing for loose skin
Hello Jan. People,,
I stumbled on to the T-Tapp workout and I have been doing it for six weeks.  In six weeks I only lost 8 pounds but I went down two clothing sizes.  I wanted to share the workout with you guys because it also has a skin brushing program that people say helps with cellulite and loose skin.  I haven't done the exercise long enough to see if this is true.  On Obesity help you can read about another gastric bypass patient who did the workout with the brushing and got good results.  If you search under Grace M. on this site or google Grace M, T-tapp and gastric bypass you will find her story.  Anyway, I'm going to list some pros and cons to this workout/program and if you want to check out more you can go to www.t-tapp.com
Pros
:  They have a More to Lose program which is what I do and I got great results so far.  The workouts are done at home (DVD) and you don't need a lot of space to do them.  They are also not long.  The More to Lose is about 25 minutes.  It is like Yoga/Pilates so you get long lean muscles..  They promote a skin brushing program to do along with the exercises to help with cellulite and loose skin. It was one of the reasons I was interested in this workout because with 85lbs lost and 60 more to go, at forty, loose skin may be an issue for me.Also,  It seems to have helped some people according to the website.
Cons:  The workout is short but iINTENSE.  You also have to really pay attention to your form.  The first couple of weeks your really learning how to perfect your form but you get a workout from that too. I don't have too many cons yet but this may be because I'm still new to it.
I sound like an infomercial for the workout but it has really helped me feel better and lose inches especially on my belly area where I need it most. Diane

Topic: RE: Hair loss
Just in the last week this is starting to worry me.  I have a lot of hair, but I'm losing a lot too!  I just started taking Biotin and didn't think about it causing hair growth everywhere else!  I hope this doesn't last too long.  I barely get my protein in and have been working harder at that.  I might add back in another protein shake until I can manage the hair.

Topic: RE: What is everyone eating at this point?
My nut and surgeon believe in devising a plan you can sustain a lifetime, so my calories and carbs are not as strict as many on this site.  For 5 days a week, I am supposed to eat 1.200 calories a day (includes 90 g protein and 100 g carbs) and for the 2 other days (not together), I can eat whatever I want (to keep my metabolism stimulated).  On the 5 days, I am always supposed to eat protein first, 1/4 cup veggies, bite or 2 of starch and a bite or 2 of dessert so I don't feel deprived.  And I am supposed to walk 5 days a week, 30 minutes a day.  And drink 64 oz of water.

I am less that perfect on this, but still manage to lose.  This has been the most amazing journey.  I even stopped losing a month, and figured out what I needed to do to start losing again (get back on the plan above),and it was no problem.  I just feel so normal!  The main key for me is to eat protein first, then everything else falls into place.

Example during the 5 days:
Breakfast - oatmeal or Breakfast burrito
Snack - protein vitamin bar
Lunch - diet dinner with high protein, soft peppermint
Snack - low fat cheddar cheese, cracked pepper turkey, 5 crackers
Dinner - grilled chicken, veggies, potato or garlic wheat toast, part of a skinny cow ice cream sandwich

I worry that I am eating the wrong things or to much.  Will you please give me a brief summary of what you are eating and how much during a single day?  I need ideas and to make sure that I am where I need to be.  One thing that I have noticed is that my waste is alot smaller at a higher weight then when I was younger.  Hummm????
