My wife is scheduled for Jan. 11th at 630 am. Im still working on insurance and hope to get mine scheduled for Jan. 18th. Just need one more doc appointment then can resubmit for approval. Should get approved then and can schedule the surgery.

lol Yes I think I will be joining in with the January family on this!! After Christmas I will be going on a liquid diet mainly, but adding some greens and fruit in also until a week before surgery, then I will be 100% liquid. I did lose 4 lbs this week which I was excited about, but I thik the liquid diet will help me to take off even more before surgery!! Good Luck to everyone!!

Hi Jim,
At first, my wife too was not very supportive so I fully understand. What has helped is our local support groups. My wife has attended a few with me, and has heard from many WLS survivors. I think that has eased her apprehension. Like you, I'm not a youngster. I have been overweight my entire life, and while I can lose the weight by dieting, I cannot sustain the weight loss.
Do yourself and your wife a favor. Read "A Guide to Weight Loss Surgery" written by Doctor Rhonda Hamilton. Not only is she an MD, but a WLS survivor herself. She does a great job of examining the risks and benefits of WLS and puts everything in layman's terms. She also gives a great reason why DIETS DON'T WORK. I got mine out of the local library. Trust me, I don't like to read books, but I couldn't put this one down.

That is fabulous! Congratulations! My surgery date is January 7th. I really can't wait.
Has anyone given you a list of what you need to have in place prior to surgery? I have not received anything yet.
