first post and dumb question....

 Hey everyone this is my first time posting, I'm more of a lurker but I thought this might be the best place to ask.  

I remember getting a list of things you can't take after surgery, certain medications but can I take cold medicine???   I feel a cold coming on and I'm wanting to take some DayQuil/NyQuil.  

Does anyone know if I can take something like that??

My doc did not give me a list, but told me to call his office to check whenever I wanted to take anything.  I was told to do this for the first year.  I recently did and the nurse checked while I was on the phone.  Hope you feel better.

 Thanks, I tried to tough it out yesterday but slept pretty badly last night so called my drs office this morning and was told what I can take.
