Hello  Group!!

How is everyone doing, since there surgery in Jan?! I had my the 29Th of Jan with tons of complications..but that's behind me and things are going great...down 33lbs, and i feel amazing..
what is everyone eat ting?!?
The doc said anything soft, so i pretty much cook everything in my crock pot, i can have some crackers, like ritz because they melt when you chew them... I'm having a very hard time with protein, Don't like milk, cottage cheese, yogurt...I try ed soy milk...Nope didn't work...so I'm pretty low on protein...not a big fan of protein drinks either...I can do the muscle milk light.that's pretty much it...
any tips?!?
also i want to hear how everyone else is doing!!

Hi, I had surgery on the same day as you :)

I am so sorry you're having troubles with protein.  I've been unbelievably fortunate so far...I haven't had any food issues at all.  I didn't have any complications either, which I'm so grateful for. My personal challenges came from being so sick right after surgery. I had a MAJOR case of bronchitis 5 days out that lasted for two weeks (soooo sick and weak from that. I was so tired of crushing antibiotics and eating them w/applesauce), and then had two days of being relatively healthy (but still so weak I couldn't hardly function, and then got a raging sinus infection (another week of ugh).

The last couple of days, I'm finally starting to feel normal. I didn't have diabetes or high blood pressure, but did have mild apnea. My major health issues were a condition called Pseudotumor Ceribri (I understand it's fairly rare...my body acted like I had a brain tumor and I produced way too much spinal fluid which in turn caused debilitating headaches and my optic nerves were being pinched off), and severe arthritis in my right hip, making walking painful on good days, impossible on the bad ones. My psuedotumor went away almost immediately and my hip hasn't hurt once since about a week out.  I was able to get rid of the massive granny-box full of meds I was taking daily and now only have to take my thyroid pill!

So far, I have been nothing but grateful for the surgery.

Hello ladies,  I am doing well.  I had an appt on Thurs. because I got really dizzy and had to sit down at work..I had to hang on the walls and had the "time warp" feeling.  My blood work was great, everything looks fine he said it sounded like vetigo.  I have been told I have it.

I seem to be doing better with soft foods (yogurt applesauce ect.)  I;m trying to stay away from carbs as much as I can, that is hard to do.  It seems as soon as I eat some I stop losing weight.  I keep nuts (almonds or pecans) in my pockets at work in case I can't get to eat.  Maybe that can help you.  I also take unflavored protein and org. pineapple juice in the morning on the way to work.

Talk to you all later

My surgery was January 20th.

Doing well.  I haven't had problems with any foods yet.  Currently on the soft food diet.

Have gone out to dinner a few times these last few weeks; ordered soup the first couple times, then ventured on to other foods... have had grilled mahi mahi, salmon, and had a pasta dish on saturday but just picked out the bits of chicken to eat.  All the rest goes to waste, really, so I'm done with eating out for a while.  I wish we could order a half-cup of an entree, and just the protein part!  :)

Hubby took me clothes shopping over the weekend, was actually fun to try on clothes and LIKE them!

Snow is beginning to melt here in Minnesota, so should be easier/safer to get out and do some real walking now.

I had my RNY 1/25 and I am doing pretty good. I am down about 40lbs, I cannot say I really notice, but everyone else can. I have noticed that my clothes are falling off and I was able to wear a pair of jeans that I have not worn in over a year or so. I also hit my first goal of weighing under 250. I have not weighed under 250 since before I was pregnant with my daughter almost 4 years ago.

As far as food goes, well getting in all your protein is hard. I know I have trouble but I try and make sure I have chicken or fish with every meal.  I have also tried protein bars, but my biggest thing is remembering my vitamins. I did have trouble at 1 point where I had such a loss of appetite that when I would put food up to my mouth, I would gag. I eventually got over that. I have also been adding the Kellogg's protein mixes to my water. I don't think I have ever thought about food so much in my whole life. Whatever was there I ate, now I think and look before I touch!!

HEY!
I am down 42lbs as of feb. 15th maybe I should weigh myself again. I don't feel any different really. I can finally eat a meal not much but a meal. I am getting in my Vits and I try to get protein in but I have to remind myself to eat and if I don't I can go the whole day without eating. Like today i had a protein bar and some flank steak and green beans, NOT GOOD AT ALL! I am trying though.

Have you tried Nectar protein powder?  It comes in fruity flavors like fuzzy naval, lemonade, cherry, etc...  Thats all I drink now, it is so good!!  you can buy it online or at vitamin shoppe.

I had my surgery 1/25 and now I am feeling great!!  Especially since we have been having some warmer weather I have so much more energy!!  I told my husband I want to go bike riding, he couldn't believe it!! haha  My right side is still healing, was having more muscle soreness on that side, but it is getting better.  My husband is joining a gym with me so we can workout together!!  Right now I am on soft solids, so I have been eating alot of baked fish and veggies, had a few bites of baked potato- but that is my weakness so I am trying to stay away from carbs for now.  I am still trying to up my liquid intake, right now I am around 50-55 oz a day and vitamins too.....I dont really like to chew them!

hi all....as of March 4th I am down 54 pounds (this includes my pre-op diet)....I feel good. I can't really tell a difference but other people say that they can tell so I guess that's good. My boyfriend said he noticed a big difference when we were....ya know....that was cool. I know I definitely felt more sexy and into it. Hope everyone else is doing well.

I just today discovered this group for people who had surgery Jan 2010!

I am doing well.  I really have no food issues with the food itself.  I find that my first bite or two, sometimes I forget to chew enough...causes alot of pain and throwing up.  Hopefully I will learn soon!

I struggle with getting enough water everyday, but I will keep trying to get more in.

My exercise is great on weekdays, lacking on weekends.  I walk on the treadmill at work twice a day for 15-20 minutes each time.  On weekends, hopefully I am doing enough stuff around the house/yard to get my quota in!

Overall I am down 28 lbs,  and feeling pretty good.
