Jan 8th Surgery Date! I am so nervous....
I am having my VSG surgery on Jan 8th. I am so nervous. I went to the Dr. on Dec. 18 and now on the 8th, I am having the surgery. My insurance company responded in 2 days with a go.
I started the clear liquid diet today, so far so good.
I have so much to loose and I feel overwhelmed. I have gained all this weight mostly from medications and not doing much exercise due to pain. But my quality of life is now zero and I have to do something now.
I am worried about the protein drinks, since those are not my thing.
I am worried about the anesthesia and coming out of it.
I am worried about blood clots, since I do not move around so well. I am in a power chair when I go out. I do walk around my house, but I have to sit after a short walk. I am getting boots to take home with me.
I am worried about being home alone. My husband is a train engineer and he works 2 hours from our home in Dallas, he lives there and I live here. He is gone 90% of the time. My parents are 80 years old and in good health, but they can only do so much.
I am grateful that I will be able to do this surgery. I am grateful for this webiste, so that I can find help with like minded and like bodied people.
I think I will blog to help me through this journey.
If I can be of help or encouragement to anyone else please let me know.

Your spirit just spoke to me through this post as all of your worries are mine and I feel so much better knowing I am not the pnly one who is feeling this. My Surgery is in 2 days. I can not believe it! WOW, u received a surgery date in less than 30 days??? mine took almost a year! I am getting the DS which essentially is the VSG as a first stage as our stomachs will look the same BUT my intestines are going to be re-routed in a second stage of surgery. BC of my size I have to be prepared to walk away with the VSG and I am so fine with that as long as I can walk away from this surgery. I hope we can go through this journey together as we are both around the same weight class.

- there are so many flavor choices when it comes to the protein shakes, that you should cross this worry off your list. You won't feel like eating anything, really, so it will simply be a chore every day at least immediately after surgery
-I had never had surgery of any kind before, so this was my first experience with anesthesia. It took me about 12 hours to fully recover from it, but I was in no pain and the nurses were by my side the entire time.
-I'm sure they'll put the boots on your legs to prevent blood clots. My boots stayed on until the day I was discharged. It was like a constant leg massage :)
I'm certainly going to pray that all goes well as I'm sure it will! You're doing the right thing and that is truly admirable! :)
