Pre-Surgical Checklist

Ok, so I received a pre-surgery sheet in the mail today with everything that possibly needs to be done before surgery.  I was told I would be having a Jan. date, but am unsure of it yet.

Did anyone have to have a vena cava filter put in?  If so, what is it for and is it common?  It's just one of the things listed on this list, which i'm sure is a generic form they use, but I was just curious if anyone else had to do that for open RNY?

Hi there! I'm set for a January 5th surgery date. I'm having my surgery at a center of excellence and they require the IVC filter for people over a certain weight or BMI.something along those lines. I'm having mine placed on Tuesday, then heading down to Texas for Christmas, but ill be sure to post abou my experience from my blackberry once I'm fully awake and thinking clearly!
