Type of surgery: (lap) RNY
Surgery Date: 1/26/09
Starting weight: 324
Current weight: 244
Total weight loss: 80
Complications?: just some 'shedding' but other than that I've been lucky
Exercise schedule: The Firm, power yoga, walking/jogging, chasing my 3yr old
Foods you can't live without: there's nothing I really can't live without, food has a whole new meaning to me - I eat what I need and I enjoy it so much more, eating slow, really tasting it and not inhaling it! I still have a treat every now and then but absolutely no soda, alcohol, etc. It's part of the package for me to be a healthier person and I chose to give those up w/o question.
Foods you can NOT tolerate: I had chicken issues at the start but can now eat it fine. I haven't gone back to red meat, sticking to chicken and seafood. wasn't a huge steak person to begin with so I don't miss it much. I haven't yet experience 'dumping', try to limit my sugars and do everything in moderation. Mind over matter!
WOW moment? (everyone has to have at least a little one!) people at work literally not recognizing me. I used to work on the 2nd floor and now work on the first floor and when I see people in meetings, etc. they would politely smile and say hello to be friendly but I had to say 'hey, it's me....' and they were like 'OMG I didn't even recognize you!' Feels good!

I don't know how to add a photo on here!! But here's a link to one of mine.

Haven't posted in this forum before (mostly hang out on the RNY board). But great question!
Type of surgery: RNY-lap
Surgery Date: 1/08/09
Starting weight: 260 pre-weight loss, 245 at surgery
Current weight: 170
Total weight loss: 90/75
Complications?: none - just lots of hair loss
Exercise schedule: get on my Wii a couple of times a week - walk with the dogs
Foods you can't live without:protein shakes (still do at least 1-2 a day, otherwise I can't get my protein in).Gorton's grilled shrimp scampi (great new product, comes in a resealable bag).
Foods you can NOT tolerate: nothing really - I don't dump, and seem to be able to eat most anything - but I just have no appetite at all
WOW moment? Realizing that I no longer park right next to the store, don't care how big the parking lot is! Buying pants in a regular women's size - not a plus size!

Topic: Memory Loss??
I was just wondering if anyone POST-OP has had any memory loss ... I have been forgetful lately and I just seem to be "spacey" ... I know with everything going on with the surgery, stressing over hairloss, etc. it is normal to forget some things here and there. But this is sooooo not me. I am the type of person that doesn't have to write down the date of an appointment for me or my 3 kids ... but now ... WOAH, watch out, if I don't ... ummm we don't make it to the appt. because I will forget!
I have been noticing me forgetting things & being confused sometimes (not really confused, but have to sit and really THINK about what I was just asked or where I put my keys or anything of that nature). My husband noticed today & said "is it a side effect of the surgery that makes you forgetful?" ... I told him I have never heard of it, but will ask around.
EXAMPLE: My husband was running to his parents house, so I told him to pick up our sons Rx at the drugstore. He left the drugstore, called me & said that I already picked them up on June 22. I said NO WAY! I don't remember picking them up with my Rx's I got that day ... I went to the kitchen and there they were ... filled & ready for my son. WTF?
I am getting scared ... I can deal with anything else but my mind going wacky! HELP! Is/did anyone going through this?? Should I call my PCP or surgeon ... I am a stay at home mommy, I can't have my brain foggy like this!

Type of surgery: Lap RNY
Surgery Date: January 26, 2009
Starting weight: 287 lbs
Current weight: 200.8 lbs
Total weight loss: 86.2 lbs
Complications?: None ... hair loss is all I am complaining about .. oh yeah, and the saggy skin :(
Exercise schedule: Huh? What is that? ... Maybe 30 minutes every other day, my schedule is so full with the kids since they are on vacation!
Foods you can't live without: Yogurt, cheese, diet snapple, lunch meat & salad
Foods you can NOT tolerate: I guess I am a lucky one because I can tolerate pretty much anything. Only if chicken is way too dry, then I can't stomache it, but other than that, everything is fair game for me ;)
WOW moment? (everyone has to have at least a little one!) I saw my family for the first time since surgery this past weekend for my son's birthday party. And I felt like a queen, everyone was telling me how wonderful I looked and how pretty I was, hubby's friends were drooling, so he was pretty stoked too!
