Tamara,
How are you doing?? I am 2 weeks out and doing ok. What are you eating?? I am eating light and soft. Too chicken to try anything for fear of
I probably am not eating enough but my doc did not seemed concerned with amts or numbers or protein. Just to take it slow, try things and get to know your pouch.
I am taking more time off from work to get more rest. I have had trouble with my back in the afternoons sometimes bad enough where I have to use heat and pain pill. So I am taking it easy this week.

Lucky you!
That is this week! Soon! It will be over and you'll be home before you know it!
Don't bring anything to hospital with you but a comfy outfit to wear home and chapstick. They will have all you need there.

Glad you are home!
Just keep getting those fluids in. I didn't have to worry about protein. So it was liquids and more liquids the first week for me!
Just remember to rest too!

That sounds like alot! That would be for a normal stomach!
Good thing I don't have to count those! I barely eat! In fact I am sure I am not even close to the amount that I am supposed to be eating. My doc didn't seem to concerned about numbers. Just try foods and get a feel for your new stomach. I am afraid to eat too much so I do not know what full feels like nor do I want to experience it.
For now I am taking it easy and trying new stuff one thing at a time in case there is something that doesn't agree with my pouch I will know what it is.

Hello,
I am 2 weeks out and I understand the food thing! I am afraid to try everything! I also have not been keeping track of protein or anything. I am just trying to get used to eating stuff. I don't think I am eating enough either. For example: Breakfast might be an egg, lunch 2 tbsp ricotta with sauce and dinner small pototoe. My liquids are watered down juice and watered down SF koolaid, decaf coffee, tea and water. I tried Chike choc protein shake and it was thick and gross even with xtra water and ice.
As far as weight lost: According to my scales at home I have lost 22 lbs since the start of my preop diet till now. Almost 4 weeks.
I still get tired and I have had trouble with my back in the afternoon. Sometimes bad enough where I have to put heat on it and take a pain pill. Doc said I am doing too much during morning hours when I feel good. So I am taking more time off to relax some. This week I am going to try tuna, egg salad, chix salad etc. i am afraid to try stuff! The mayo scares me!
But we shall see....

Good Luck! It will be over before you know it! I am 2 weeks out and I can't believe it!
Only pack an outfit to come home in and your chapstick. I got everything else from the hospital. All your toiletries and feety socks. The hospital gowns are fine. Most comfortable in bed. Tomorrow night you will be pretty much out of it still from anesthesia. The next day you will still feel groggy. They will make you walk and do so because you are gassy and it does help. Your walk will wipe you out so you will nap. I watched a little TV and napped and walked. And the next day you wake up and get ready to come home! So really pack light!
Post when you can!

Topic: RE: What are you Jan 12'ers eating post op?
Billie,
I have been on soft/puree foods since last Monday. I don't think I am getting enough food in though. In the morning I will have 4 oz of juice/water, decaf coffee with SF creamer, 1 egg scrambled sometimes with a little shredded cheese. Then I will drink water or SF koolaid(watered down alot). For lunch I will have maybe 2 tbsp ricotta cheese with tom sauce and shredded or parm cheese. More liquids after then for dinner maybe soup or refried beans with salsa. Oh, and baked pototoe. I have not been keeping track of my protein yet. I am still trying to get to know my new pouch. I am afraid to eat too much at once. I do not want to know how it feels to be full(it can't be pleasant). I have tried no sugar added carnation instant breakfast and my tummy did not feel well after a few sips. I am not sure if it was the drink or not. I have tried Chike choc protein and it is too thick(kinda gross).
I have had rice crispies with skim too. I have not had alot of milk. Did you know skim milk has alot of sugar in it??
I went to the docs on Thursday and he told me I could advance to solids but to  chew well. I could not believe he told me after only being on softs for 4 days!! Needless to say I have not tried solids yet. Not have I tried any meat yet. I am scared to try stuff!
I can't believe you are going back to work already. I am going to take more time. At first I was going to go back this Monday too but my back has been killing me every afternoon. The doc said that I am probably doing too much in the morning as far as bending, twisting, turning etc. We are moving so I have been cleaning out cupboards and lightly packing. But I think it has been too much. I have time to take so I will.
So how have you been feeling??
I find it hard to sip and not gulp. I have taken like 3-4 gulps and been ok though. I had a bout of bad stomach pains last night with diarrhea. Not sure what that was about. It was lower in my stomach. Other then that just little aches and pains and weird feelings.
So let me know how you are doing and how your first day at work goes. I can't believe it has been 2 weeks already!

I'm on the 28th.  And you are right, Dr's are different I didn't have to do a pre-opt diet either, but I do have to do Milk of Magnesia the night before.

Good luck to all it's our week!
