Hi Amanda,
Thanks for hugs and thoughts. It does help.
Yes, it stings. The pocket book too.
They should pay for the preop testing and exam I had.
Yes, I try not to question his plan. If it was for Jesus carrying me these last 4 years, I would not have made it this far.
Thanks,
Karen

Hi Kim,
I hear you. I'm so glad you had a good experience. Patients have to be very very careful who and the hospital they pick for WLS.
I did a lot of research.. as the next post mentions, St. Vincent is rated 100%. Dr. Inman is a top notch surgeon.
However, you have to babysit the whole network - there is the Surgeons office, the hospital, the Bariactric Center and whatever doctor they recommend you see. The coordination is where there problem lies or their setup for financial gain. As the other reply post says, this center does many (beginning to think too many.. over schedule like a hotel or airline over book) surgeries earch month. They only have one coordinator. She is overworked.
My point.. They made a mistake in scheduling me for all these expensive tests which my insurance has already processed some and paid, scheduling me for preop and other classes, schedulling me for surgery and then canceling me a few minutes after they called to move up the surgery. They argued with me that they didn't get the status update from my pain therapist and they did in December. This was in plenty of time to notify me if there was something they had concerns with, I was up there three times in which they could have told me.
Okay, I am tired and in pain right now so mus rest. Be on later.

Topic: Nausea
How long is it "normal" for??
I feel nauseated all day long and it is so frusterating!! I have my surgery on January 23, So I am only 5 days post op....its almost like hunger nausea...u know when u were really really hungry before the surgery...and u felt nauseated because of it?? That is kinda what it feels like!
I just want some reassurance that this is not going to be normal for the rest of my life!!! I don't want to have to deal with this for 60 odd more years
thanks in advance

Topic: Finally home!
Hello everyone! I'm home. I was scheduled for 11:30 a.m., but didn't get in until 2:30 p.m.The surgery was fine just had a lot of nausea due to my blood pressure being up and it made me feel yucky! After we figured that out, Demerol became my best friend. After being discharged today, I went straight to my primary doctor's office for him to adjust my meds. I waited for 3 hours just to see the nurse practitioner who gave me a new bp medicine that I've never heard of. I have decided to wait until the surgeon gets back to his office before I pick it up.
Thank you for all of your prayers and wishes! I truly appreciate it.

Wishing you all the best with your surgery. Sounds like you have a wonderful support system around you.
I'll see that my pups cross their paws for you when they say their prayers tonight. (all nine of them - so you will have a lot of puppy paws praying for you too)

Topic: RE: Liquids - HOW MUCH????
My surgeon's goal for me is 48-64oz per day. The most I can get in so far was about 45 oz. I use SF popsicles to help up my intake too.
I am also getting about 2-3 1oz pureed meals a day in on top of that. At least 8oz of my liquids are a protien shake too.
Good luck to her.

Topic: RE: Jan 14ers, first meal was??
i am the same day as you. Here are some purees I am doing and love them. Can never go more than an ounce though or I get a little icky feeling!
tuna and mayo
scrambled egg and cheddar cheese
baked salmon and cream cheese
rotisserie chicken and ff ranch dressing
rotisserie chicken and cream cheese
These have worked very well for me, i just cannot eat more than a few bites at a time.
I am also trying really hard to get my protien in, but it is tough. Now that I can have coffee, I am adding a full scoop of the isopure unflavored protien powder to my morning coffee and it has 26 grams. That settles my tummy when i first wake up. I really cannot eat before elevenish. I wake up a bit nauseated.
Good luck!
