I had Surgery Jan 13th.  So what kind of soft foods are you eating.  I had eggs this moring and i got sick.  I had the VG done. Yogurt is good with me.   I didn't weight myself today so I don't know how much I have lost all together.

Topic: RE: What are you Jan 12'ers eating post op?

Hi All, I had my RNY 01/12 had my first post op visit today. Started on soft/pureed a few days ago (just could not handle the liquid diet anymore)  I enjoy  1/4 of a cup serving at a time of cream of wheat, malt-o-meal, scrambled egg with salsa & low fat sour cream, re fried beans w/melted shredded cheese, french onion soup w/ melted cheese, miso soup, tuna salad w/ fat free mayo pureed. I am also getting to enjoy V8 juice. I am not tolerating any protein drinks for some reason (milk or soy) any suggestions? Thanks, Happy Eating & Best Wishes To You All On Our Road To Recovery, Robin

Topic: 2 weeks post op, any one else?
Hello, I am posting for the first time. Have been reading for a while. I wondered how everyone else is doing? Seems like there is different information from different doctors. I am sitting on the loosers bench now with a loss of 27lbs. Today is the first day that I actually didn't loose any at all. I at hamburger meat for the first time last night and was wondering if that is what did it. I have trouble getting in all my water, but no surgery issues so far.

Topic: RE: 3 Weeks -- Anyone Else Out There?
Hi Maria,

I am three weeks out today.  I am on soft/pureed food.  I do cottage cheese, ground turkey or ground beef with spaghetti sauce, mashed potatoes, refried beans and cheese.

So far so good.  My surgeon focuses on 500 calories per day and not so much on protein for the 1st 2 months.  Then protein counts as does 900-1000 calories for 2-6 months post-op.

It's nice when the clothes feel baggy.  I've lost about 22 lbs so far.

Have a great evening.

Make sure you are taking your pain meds when you need them!  No need to be in pain while you are trying to heal!  I wish I had some advice for you other than that!  I was very uncomfortable for the first few days too, but it gets better I promise!!   (((HUGS)))  Hang in there girl!

Glad to hear your home !!

It's not unusual for the hospital to keep you longer because you didn't urinate enough. I've been through numerous surgeries over the past ten years and I come out from under okay, but they keep me longer too because I didn't pee enough to make them happy.

But anyway...... My first day at home wasn't pleasant either.  I tried to lay down in the bed and boy did I regret that.... I slept in the recliner chair for the first 5 days !!  Did they give you any pain meds? I went through my first bottle in 3 days. The first day or so at home will be rough, I'm not going to try to sugar coat it, but it gets a little better each day.

No matter how much discomfort you have, try to walk as much as possible. It really does help. I'm still passing gas and I'm 6 days out. The more you walk the faster that gas and discomfort will pass, AND don't forget to sip your water all day.

We are all here to support you !!

Take care and I'll keep you in my thoughts

Just got home not long ago from the dr.  He said that it looked like I was a little infected but not to worry since he called in an antibiotic a few days ago.  Just keep it clean and covered.  But he said he wouldn't change my fill date which is not until the 24th of Feb since I'm having problems with my incision....better to be safe!!!!!!!!  I guess I can't argue with that!!!!!   Thanks for you support.....sometimes I don't know what I would do with out OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
