I started my liquid diet at 280 lbs .... day of surgery I was 271 lbs .... came home at 281 lbs ... now I am 266.4 lbs ... that is only almost 5 lbs since day of surgery. So, I think you are right on track ... I think I am losing slower than most, but we all lose at a different pace. Keep your head up, you are doing great!
Don't be discouraged... your doing great !!!
My Corporal had the RNY surgery 2 years ago and he told me that he didn't lose all that much weight the first two weeks either. He started feeling the same way but then, all of a sudden, he said it started falling off. He said that the only exercise he was doing was just a LOT of walking. Nothing too strenuous at first. But he stressed that the walking was what he felt was the key that got him really going with dropping it off.
I had my surgery on 1-23 and I'm down 14 pounds, but I also got scolded by my surgeon because he knew that I was really pushing it. (I walk on my treadmill several times a day for 20 minutes at least each time)
By reading some of the posts I tend to wonder if the liquid diet doesn't make it slow going the first two or three weeks because the body thinks it is being starved and slows the metabolism in defense. (On top of working over time to try and heal) My surgeon doesn't have us do the liquids as long as some thank god.
You shouldn't be discouraged at all. Your doing good !! And I think in another week or two you will start seeing a little quicker results. But even with that, you will hit plateaus. My Cpl said that he noticed he would hit a plateau every few weeks which would last a week or more sometimes. So we will all experience some good times and some slower times.
Keep your chin up... and keep forging ahead.

I was also terribly sick of the liquid diet. I think that's normal and healthy. Give yourself a break and a bit more time to heal.
I moved on to pureed foods today and am now worried that I won't lose any weight if I eat like this. I just traded one worry for another. I can always find something to stress about.
I think the bottom line for me is the fact that this is 'normal'. It's 'normal' post op experience. Besides, I hope my old 'normal' way of eating will never return.
Stay focused on why you chose this and hang on for a bit longer. You'll get through it!
Vent anytime.

But... Why do I feel so ugghhhh about everything!?!?! I know I am still healing, But... Come on... I want to have a "Normal" day again! I am really hard on myself... I know that! But, I am not as "happy" as I thought I would be.
Also, My Dr. is VERY strict. Which I like! But, again... I have ANOTHER week and a half on liquids! I am just about done with the liquid SH*T!!!!
I guess all I can ask myself is, "DO I REGRET DOING THIS?" And the answer is "NO" I would do it again in a heart beat!
I just need to get over this hump!
Thanks for listening!!!
Water, water, water, protein, protein, protein!
I'm telling you get your 64 oz of liquids and 60 or more of protein and you will drop it. I have lost 45lbs since my surgery on January 6th (a month today) and i just focus on the protein and liquid. I go for a walk once a day for about half an hour but thats it because my surgeons like yours and wants us to wait til 8 weeks to do other exercise.
I am SOOOO jealous! Have a bite for me!!!
Hey there... The first day I was on my liquid diet and cooked them dinner I had a major meltdown! (my Dr. requires 2 weeks on a liquid diet) Then on day 2 I was ok and Day 3 I had another meltdown sooooo bad I had to leave the house because it smelt like MEATLOAF! But, after you get over the hump you are ok.
Now, (2 weeks post op).. I find it easy... And, have been cooking better for them! I pre measure everything and don't over cook anymore!
At first things will be hard... But it does get better!
Good Luck with everything!
