What I am buying for my pureed stage is: Ricotta cheese, Cream of wheat, pudding, yogurt, refried beans, cheese, tuna fish, eggs. I just wondered what else everyone is eating and how much they can eat before they get the "full" feeling. I have been on liquids for almost 3 weeks (1 wk pre op & 2 wks post op) ... so I don't get the "full" feeling anymore and my belly rumbles sometimes because I am so hungry lol ... I can't wait to get some food with consitency in my diet :)
My question is:
How much can everyone eat? (1 tbsp, 1/4 cup, etc) ... AND what is everyone eating at their pureed stages?
Like the posts say, every doctor is different so is every patient. I was on a 3 week pre-op liquid (mostly- 3 shakes and 3oz protein dinner) diet that started on Christmas Day for me, then I had 2.5 weeks of liquid post-op and am now on the soft protein, I can have some veg but need to make sure to chew everything to mush... It was nice to chew again!!! This is such a hard decision and I look at like this; if I can't stick to the diet now how am I ever going to reach my goal and stay there?
You will soon be "normal" again plus you will be healthier and be looking/feeling better.

I am about 3 weeks post op and have lost a total of 34 pounds including the 17 on the 3 wk pre-op. I think something that will make you all feel better as it has me is to take some measurements of yourself. I have been told that you may not be loosing pounds but you will be loosing inches. I know when I left the hospital I was mad that I weighed more than when I went in, it took a while to get all the gas out from surgery. I walk a lot during my days at work but I also try to walk on the treadmill with 2 pound hand weights for about 20-30 minutes once I get home.
I too was tired of the liquid diet but they have us on it to allow our new "pouches" to heal. Honestly when I was allowed to start eating soft foods I was scared and hardly ate anything. I still drink a lot of my protein just to make sure I get my 80 grams in.
Good Luck to everyone I know there will be highs and lows in this journey but I am grateful to be experiencing it!!!

This is very normal. It will become normal within the week. If you go more than 2 days without having one, you should call the Dr and make sure that Milk of Magnesia or prune juice are ok for you to take.

THANKS!
So, it is not just because of my protein shakes? In my info packet it said that loose stool is common for up to 2 weeks after surgery but then it went on to say that if you have loose stool you should stop drinking your protein shakes for 24 hours and then switch to a different brand.
I do not want to switch to a different brand because I LIKE the Isopure, I am very lactose intolerant so my options are limited and I already bought 6 canisters. I know that Isopure is a really great one and very popular too. I was on my protein shakes only starting at day 5. I also was mixing them with only crystal light...so that so 60 ounces of crystal light in 2 days...I think that was too much. So I am cutting the CL in 1/4. When I drank them my stomach did not hurt and I did not have increased gas either.
Thanks!

My post op program doesn't concentrate on protein until the 3rd month. In the meantime, I ordered some Unjury chocolate and LOVE IT. I mix it in 8 oz milk and take 1/2 cup each meal for 10 gr of protein. I don't care for fruit flavor stuff by love choc or vanilla. I get it at Unjury.com.
Also, if you're not in to ordering it, Myloplex EAS is 20 grm and can be found at Wal Mart.
Hope that helps,
Barb

I have been doing the Isopure fruit punch. I like it. I found it for $31 a huge canister at vitaminshoppe.com. I am shooting for 75 MG a day.

I had surgery last Wed. I did not have a BM till yesterday. I had one solid one and then several loose ones yesterday. Nothing so far today. Is this normal?

I have to have 4 weeks of "full liquid" diet. Then 5 weeks of purees.
For full liquids though...I can eat yogurt, cottage cheese, cream soups, applesauce, pudding, ect.
