Topic: RE: Drink & food .. how much and what?
I am on "full liquids" for a month. However, I can eat pudding, cottage cheese, yogurt, applesauce, liquid soup, etc on it. (Although I am limited because of lactose intolerance).
I can drink A LOT. All I drink is water or crystal light and I can EASILY drink 8 ounces in 10 minutes or even 25 ounces in well under an hour. My Dr. said as long as it is water and you are sipping and feeling good........there is no limit on water. Drink as much water as you can (as long as it is over 30 minutes after you eat).
For "meals" HA...I am eating 2 ounces (1/4 cup), 3 times a day and I am NOT full...but I am NOT hungry either and I have no desire to eat more food then this...so I guess that is good. I never have ANY pain, symptoms anything...I can not even tell I had surgery. Food still smells GREAT to me and it is appealing too. But, I do not eat it. I have only lost 12 pounds...but I started out lighter too.

Sooner~ Hey girl! The bed is AMAZING!!! I sleep so soundly in it (unless my baby wakes me up as usual lol). I can even sleep on my side now ... no more pain! My most painful incision is near my bellybutton too ... maybe a few inches and that is my most painful one too! I am glad you are doing so well ... I will have to catch up with you soon!

Thanks so much guys :) I was just wondering because it seems I can drink more liquids now than last week and not have a full feeling at all. last week I had to drink my liquid 1oz every 15 minutes. Now I can drink a cup in 10 minutes. So just didn't want to over-do the pureed foods when I start ... thanks again, you guys are all a big help *as always*

All the stuff your eating sounds good.
I had roast, carrots, celery and mash potatoes last night. I put the roast beef in my "little Chopper" food processor and chopped it up real good. The carrots and celery were slow cooked with the roast all day so they were nice and soft.
I would say I am able to eat around a 1/4 to 1/2 cup depending on what it is I'm eating. If it's some kind of meat chopped up then I'm good with a 1/4 cup or less. The softer stuff like yogurt I can eat a little more. All the foods will be different depending on their substance.
Just eat REAL SLOW. We were told that even though you have a very small pouch, it still takes the pouch about 30 minutes to feel full. So if you eat too fast, you might over do it and regret it soon after.

Karen,
I have been on the soft/pureed stage for a couple of weeks. What was suggested to me was 1/4 cup of thicker things and 1/2 cup of liquids. There are times when I feel like I could eat a little more soup but when I try a couple more spoonfuls, I am full feeling. I made home made split pea soup day before yesterday and had 1/2 cup plus 2 more spoonfuls and I was feeling very full. I made it with turkey ham, carrots, celery, onions and split peas and put it in the blender. It was very yummy.
I do lots of cottage cheese, cream of wheat, I have done peas, green beans (I just chew them very well) and tonight did some noodles and everything has stayed down.
Usually if I have a "regular dinner" like tonight, I had 1 oz of noodles, 1 oz of green beans and 2 oz of ground turkey with sloppy joe sauce (I had made sloppy joes for the hubby) and I couldn't fini****
Hope this helps.

My best advice is to listen to your body. When I get ful, i can tell, not because my stomach hurts, but because i start to hiccup....and i can just tell that the last bite was maybe a little over the edge....you will get to know how YOUR pouch responds to food soon enough.
Good luck,
michelle

Topic: RE: What are you doing for protein?
I am taking the pro diet protein drink and I got it for my doctor. He recommends it for like the first 3 mths. I have it in fruit punch which is really good and also a cappuccino flavor which is really good too but I had a little problem with it just today. It was too foamy for me when I drank it so I've been burping and feeling really gassy and nauseated and even tried to yak it up a little and no luck. So I've been at work with the burps and gassy feeling all day. I stopped drinking water to see if I could get it to pass that way and I still feel the same. I just barely got to sip on some tomato soup and it went down ok but I've only had like 4 little sips and feel kinda full and burpy still. So hopefully it goes away soon. I haven't even been able to take my 2nd dose of iron cause of that awful feeling. Oh yeah back to the subject at hand. I bought mine from my doctor and it was pretty expensive I think. A whole month supply 60mg a day of protein for $200 but it also included my iron, b12 and calcium.

I have always been told not to wait until you are full wait until you are satisfied! Never get to the full stage.

I did mashed pototes and scrabbled eggs alot. You will know when you are full its almost painfull. At first I was worried that I was eating too much ( 1/4 cup) but you take one more bit then allowed and know you will feel it. Its almost painful to be honest.
