Type of Surgery & Date:  mini-open RNY Jan.14, 2009

Weight Day of Surgery:  323

Weight Today: 266

Total Pounds Lost:  57

Biggest obstacle to overcome:  So far, i have not really had any problems.  I am really fortunate.  My one issue has been a few times where I didn't chew my food and ate too fast and it got stuck.  Once I learned to CHEW CHEW CHEW, all has been well.

Any surgery regrets:  That i didn't do it sooner!

What do you eat (typical day menu):  Very varied menu.  I do make sure protien is at least 40% of my diet and i have a packet of the Live Active Crystal Light at least once a day with my water to help keep me regular.  I stay away totally from anything fried, pasta, white flour, and sugar.  I eat a lot of beef, pork, fish and green veggies and fruit.  i eat about 1000-1100 calories per day.

Exercise schedule:  i work out at the gym at least five times a week with an hour of cardio.  Twice a week i meet with a personal trainer for strengh training and what I call TORTURE.  She is amazing and after six weeks with her I have lost a total of 26 inches.

All in all I feel like this is the best thing I have ever done for both myself and my family.

My PMs and periods are worse, BUT they are shorter!  My poor hubby can always tell now when it is time to ignore me for a few days!  I get extremely cranky and was not like that pre-op.

Type of Surgery & Date: RNY on 12/31/09

Weight Day of Surgery: 304

Weight Today: 248

Total Pounds Lost: 56 lbs

Biggest obstacle to overcome: Anxiety about food. It's become a complete pain in my ass.

Any surgery regrets: I wish I would have looked into DS but I am glad the RNY is making me do what I'm doing. I'm an emotional eater. With the DS, I wouldn't have had to deal with that.

What do you eat (typical day menu): Protein drink (UNJury or Nectar), Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt, Cashews, Cheese. There are foods that I can sometimes tolerate like eggs, chicken, turkey bacon, etc.

Exercise schedule: I don't exercise yet. This is a HUGE issue I am having. I feel like I don't have the resources or the time to do it.

I have been a meany! My poor DH has told me on several different occasions. Before I had more patience and was able to handle situations alot better. Now everything sets me off. I have to remind myself to be nice and not to snap at the drop of a hat. I asked not that long ago and everyone says it is apart of the surgery process. Your body and its hormones are just trying to get adjusted to everything along with mental part. I can't wait till I feel back to my old self again. Just take long deep breaths and pray for God to give you the patience and will power not to kill anybody lol.

Lisa/Sooner,
I just wanted to let you both know that I ate some salad on Friday night and am eating some more for lunch today. I also had about 3 small bites of bread this weekend.
I tried pasta before and it didn't go so well, but I will try again along with some brwon rice.

I have noticed an increase in my irritability during that time also. Not to the degree that you have but still not nearly as tollerable as I used to be. I also don't eat the week of my "visitor". I tend to have a crankier pouch that week. I am having my 3 month follow up this week and will ask my doctor about this.

Hang in there, I know that I am trying to be overly nice during that time so that maybe I will be normal.. (Well as normal as I can be)
