Hang in there!

I've been doing basically the same diet as newbarb2 since Thursday .  3 Slim Fasts a day and plenty of water. I've been doing SF pudding and jello, (plus I cheated a little and had half a bowl of tomato basil soup on Saturday, two boiled shrimp on Monday, and two cubes of grilled chicken yesterday).  But I've lost 10 lbs since I started!

I've been working out also (walking, jogging and elliptical cross trainer).

Eating nothing will just throw your body into starvation mode, which will make it hold on to any fat because it thinks it's starving to death.

Try a liquid diet and see how it works.  Working out also helps.

Good luck!

Topic: RE: What do they do for pre-OP tests...How bad is endoscopy?
I was put under general anesthesia for the endoscapy.

Unfortunately I also had a motility done the same week (they put a tube up my nose and down the back of my throat to test the strength of my esaphagus).

These two irritants on my esophagus caused a lot of pain after my endoscapy.

My advice is to make sure that is the only test you are doing that week, and stay away from solid foods right after.  My surgeon did not tell me that and hours after I ate my esophagus (already irritated) started to swell and I had to go to the ER for chest x-rays.

For most I've heard that the test is a piece of cake.  The pain meds were quite fantastic.

My wife had her surgery yesterday (lanelson2) and everything went great.  She was up and walking last night and passed her swallow test with no leaks!  Woo hoo.
