I'm so glad you're back safe and sound and that surgery went well.  I go in on 1/20.  Thanks for the good wishes.  Keep us posted on your progress!

good luck to you!  My surgery date is 1/20 and I, too, am scared, excited and looking forward to a slimmer year.  It is all I think about too.  Have faith! and keep us posted.

Good luck to you!    I've never heard of the vertical sleeve gastrectromy, is that a type of lap band?   I am very excited and can't believe that on Friday 1/16 I have my pre-op appointment to go over what I can eat the week before surgery and to go over the post-op eating plan.  I will try to visit this site more often and post updates of my progress and for advise if I need some.

We are having surgery the same day!  Only mine is the vertical sleeve gastrectomy.

I know what you mean about people's opinions.  My family came through for me and most of my close friends.  One friend called it "cosmetic surgery".  I laughed in her face.  She was really mean about the same thing.  Amazingly she weighs within pounds of your friend.  Yes, it can complicate things but do what is best for you!

Hey lizzyliz1, We will be sharing the same surgery day.  Hopefully we can keep in touch and help each other along the journey to being thin in '09.  I haven't told anyone at work about my decission to have surgery either, I am taking vacation time to recover.  Nor, have I mentioned anything to my family (sisters and brothers etc.).  I am doing this for me and no one else.  Best of luck to you, I keep you in my prayers.
