Welcome to the board. I'm having surgery on the 20th too. We are now in the single digits of the counting game. Wishing you the best on your journey.

My RNY is scheduled for the 20th.  I began my liquid diet today.  I'm excited but scared. I started my liquid diet today - no veggies, though.  So far so good.

Best wishes to you.  Keep us posted.

Hi!  My surgery date is also tomorrow.  It was supposed to be last Thursday but I got a call early Wednesday (after I had already began the bowel prep) saying that the doc had to reschedule all his Thurs. pts to Monday.  So, needless to say, I had to do the bowel prep AGAIN!  Talking about a PO'd sista....I started last night and haven't stopped going since..lol   I HATE IT!  And I'm hungry since I can't even take the protein shakes since they have milk in them and I'm not supposed to have any milk products...Oh Well, at least the day is finally here!  I'm nervous and excited but more nervous because my daughter is nervous & scared.  My husband & I have talked to her and explained that I'll be fine, but what can I expect from a 9 yo....Here's to the beginning of a new life everyone..... I hope that everyone has an uneventful and speedy recovery!

You all are oh so right.  I will not miss the food and loving the pounds going away.  After reading some of your preop diets, mine is not so bad.  I have to do atkins for 2 weeks.  I've started slowly going into it and it's not that bad. I guess the last meal does sound morbid or it could be a right of passage.  LOL  Then here lately, food can just make me sick by looking at it and especially when I over eat. I'm lookng forward to feeling better. Thanks for you input.  I think I really like this forum.

Glad to get your post. You just had surgery the 9th so still being in the hospital is not that bad.
Tomorrow when i am going in you will probably be coming out!
Remember when you get home to rest and take it easy.
You will feel better soon. Post again soon,

This is day 7 of my VLCD and a week tomorrow I'll be having my surgery.  I feel very excited and right now I'm full of energy. I can't really understand that, and I'm not hating the VLCD as much as I thought I would. I have 3 shakes a day plus a cup of steamed veges on my surgeons programme and have been trying to make the vegies interesting - which is actually making me thing about how to cook nutritious meals O.o

So how many 20ths are there?

Deborah, Yes I am afraid of missing food especially sweets. Did I have a last meal? Nope. I didn't. I am 12 days into my 30 day pre op diet that is 1200 calorie low carb. Kind of like atkins. After that I have to do 5 days of full liquids and then 1 day of clear liquids. then surgery. I feel really great about what I am doing. I have lost 11.4  pounds so far. I am happy to see the scales coming down. I did't have carb withdrawal like most people have. Not even a headache. My blood sugar has been the best it has been in awhile. I am really motivated. Best of luck on your pre op diet.

Amanda, you are doing great on your weight loss. That is amazing. I am on my 1200 calorie 30 day pre op diet. I have been on it for 12 days now. After that  I have to be on full liquids for 5 days then clear liquids for 1 day and then surgery. I still don't have my date yet. I know it will be in Feb. Thanks for all the encouragement about not cheating. You did everyone a big favor. You rock!!

There is only 3 days to go!!!  I am getting anxious!  Drive careful to all of you driving afar and best of luck  on our journey to the loosing side of life!
