Don't be too worried. My surgery is Wednesday, the 14th. My doctor does not require a two week liquid diet. Starting today I am on a full liquid for te next two days along with having to take an asprin a day today and tomorrow. I think all doctors are different. I do not have to do the bowel prep either.
My surgeon has done thousands of these procedures and i trust him totally, so as long as you have checked out your surgeon, I wouldn't worry about how different your regimen is from others.

My surgery is Wednesday. i am at the hospital all day today doing pre-op testing. So far so good! I have said a prayer for you both and hope all goes well. Say one for me too for Wednesday please! YOu can never have enough prayers for sure!!

I hope you're feeling better soon! I'm sure you will be - each day will get a little better, so I'm told. I haven't had my surgery yet.
Maybe you should mention to your family that you're not comfortable with them eating in front of you. Just a thought.

Hi, All,
My surgery is scheduled for the 22nd. I'm not too nervous, yet! My pre-surgery diet is prepackaged foods that are really quite tastey. I was dreading the liquids only. What a pleasant surprise.

Try not to worry to much.... From my experience my doctor did not have me go on a 2 week liquid diet before surgery. I only had the day before. I am 5 1/2 yrs post op and I have lost a total of 170 lbs. Every situation is different as is every doctor. Call his office, it is the best way to get the answers. Your doc should be able to tell you about vitamins and meds.... Ask all the same questions you are asking here. My new doctor has not said anything about meds or vit. I am planning on asking the 13th my pre op appointment. Hang in there !

Well I was having a lot of poroblems keeping food down while I was in the hospital. I had open RNY and boy is the pain no joke. I got so gassy and was held in the hospital for an extra day and finally was able to have a bm. while in the hosptial, there was a lot of vomiting. broth is my enemy. I am now a week out and still bloated and swollen but feeling a lot better. I cannot wait to get off the clear liquid diet...My family ont mean to do it but they have been eating chinese food infront of me and lots of rice...I dont really like rice but was craving it wen I saw and smelled it.
