Goldfish...
Were you much of a drinker before surgery? I think a lot of people dont take transfer addictions seriously but it happens A LOT! When you cant comfort yourself with eating anymore you find it elsewhere. It just sucks that you chose to find it in alcohol. Best of luck to you and I hope you can get it sorted soon.  I do know that for me if I have one drink I cant stop at that and then lose all common sense. I try hard not to even have that first drink in the evening. Wine is the worst for me.

I am up about 15 pounds but still hanging in there. Would love to get it off of me.

Take care

almost 4.5 years out...well a lot has happened. I lost 188 lbs. I lost more then I actually weigh now. I've done two sprint trialthons and 5 5K races. But...I have become an alcoholic. I traded one for the other. The past two years I've been to 5 detoxs ,2 rehabs (30 days each) 1 IOP (intensive outpatient) two DUI's. I traded one addiction for another. I remember years ago when I was 373 lbs wishing I was an alcoholic. I thought that would be easier since all you had to do was not drink.

I have never got arrested for overeating or going through a drive thru. Anyway my point is I still if I had to do it over again have had the surgery. This is just a warning. Don't drink alcohol after surgery. I've come close to losing my family and my job and it has cost me 10's of thousands of dollars. The surgery worked as well as could have been expected. You just have to watch that cross addiction. Food is something I still worry about. I can eat anything now and I can eat way more than just a year ago. I have to be really careful. I can also eat a lot of carby stuff. Chips...ect. Just be careful.....

If your going to pee with the puppies you can't run with the big dogs....

So our surgeries were 3 1/2 years ago. Are you happy you did it? Are you where you want to be?

As for me, Yes I am happy I did it and yes I am where I want to be. It's not easy though, it's constant work. I had gained 10 pounds nearly overnight last March. Seemed like every time I was stepped on the scale that week I was 1 or 2 pounds heavier!  I was able to get it under control and I am where I need to be now.
As far as where I'd like to be?  Probably fitter, I need to exercise way more than what I am getting.

Bit of advise...  get back on the scale and do weigh****chers on-line..  I love it.  I dont have to go to stupid meetings but I can track everything I eat on my iphone. . Hang in there and make the decision that you are not gaining the weight back. !

Not sure if any of you are still following this but I too have started gaining back some weight and I am freaking out.  It feels like I just keep getting larger and larger.  This past summer I had to have a bowel revision due to a hernia repair I had in the summer of 2010.  I actually lost the weight I had started gaining but think it had alot to do with the surgery and issues.  Now that I have healed I am back to the same bad eating habits. I was at my all time low after surgery which was 121lbs in August 2011.  I am now up to 134, that's 13 lbs in 4 months.  OMG I feel out of control too!!  I am finally done with school so I now just have 40 hrs of work, one night and sat at the salon and have 3 kids.  I need to find a way to get back on track.  I can't get any larger I will not buy larger pants but I am so stuffed in them right now if I don't lose quick I may have to.

How are you all doing? Any advice to give? I really need some help and support :/

I totally feel your pain and frustration.  I am up 13 pounds since this time last year!  I just seem to have lost my motivation... I too have stopped taking my vitamins.  I am disappointed in myself, and feel like such a failure!  But... I think that we just need to focus, and make ourselves a priority again!  We made a crucial decision to have bariatric surgery, and it took alot of work on or part to lose the weight and become healthier....so we need to gain back our motivation and be more conscious of what we are eating!  We can do it!  We have each other for support.

Oh I am right there with you!  Last year at this time I was 145 lbs ... I am now at 155 lbs ... I feel so bloated and gross.  Tomorrow I start the pouch test ... I just need to get off this kick of grossly bad food!  I try so hard & fail ... this is why I was almost 300 lbs!  I am so afraid to get heavier.  I am out of control and even when I know I am going to get sick & be miserable for an hour after I eat those nasty carbs/fried food I STILL freakin' do it!  I work 50 hours a week and have 3 kids ... so exercising is totally out for me for the time being.  I just want to cry & I am so disappointed in myself!  UGH .... Hope we all can turn our eating around again & lose the weight we put on!

Well hello!

I hear ya!
I have put on 5lbs from my what I thought my maintained  for some time weight. I also FREAK out!! I am going to wake up and be my pre-op weight.
What I try to do is get back on the scale, start my morning with protein shake or bar and then on cutting back on my carbs and sweets. I am back down 2.5 lbs but would like to get to my lower post op weight so I have that wiggle room. I was not doing well with my vits (pure laziness) but 3 months ago found out my iron was severly low and have had to have infusions. I have had a round of 4, 14 days apart and probably will have to have more. I have felt aweful! So fatigued!! Out of breath, not sleeping and have had heart issues to boot!
I am not sure if I was consistant with my vits that non of this would have happened but....take your vits. For 2 years my labs were great and then bang! Trouble.
So I am sure you are not the only one.....15 lbs may seem like a lot but look how much you have lost. Get on the scale, re-look at what and how much you are eating and make changes. It is not too late. It is never to late. Get a grip now but for it really gets out of control.
Keep me posted,
Lisa

I'm 15 lbs heavier then i was this time last year.
I'm scared to death I'm going to wake up and be back to 330+.
I quit taking my vitamins because they make me sick,
I'm not exercising and I'm not staying on track with my calories/food.
I'm so embarrassed/ashamed and i don't know who to turn to for help?
I feel so overwhelmed.
I really hope no one else is going through this.
I feel so out of control :(
