got home yesterday and I am doing fine.  no pain just sore where the drains are.  but I am having one problem.  My Asthma seems to bee acting up.   Last night I couldn't sleep because I was up all night caughing up flegm.  it had a pinkish tent to it so I called my surgeon and he said it wasn't anything to worry about because I need to get that stuff out of me.  But if it didn't go away in the next few days see my pulmonogist.  Today I am still cauging up flegm every few minutes but it is no longer pinkish.  I am also short of breath when I try and come up my stairs.  Anyone else go through this?

Hey Sheena,

I am also asthmatic and I had the same issues.  My husband reminded me that I had a tube down into my lungs during the surgery and that there is probably some irritation.  I had blood in the phem I coughed up and it was pretty thick.  Do you take advair for your asthma?  This is a lifesaver for me.  Anyway, about a 5 days after surgery, everything settled down and no problems since.

Hang in there and make sure you get your fluids in, this will help a lot.

Hugs,
Barb

I can't help you with the asthma question but I wanted to wish you well.  Welcome home and feel better soon.  Call your pulmonologist if you haven't already.

Apparently it's not unusual for people with asthma to have a reaction with surgery.  My surgeon asked me to bring my inhaler to the hospital just in case, so apparenty some people need help with their lungs.  Just remember also that your physical stamina is probably not at its highest and take care.  Congrats on your surgery!
