2 weeks post op, any one else?
Hello, I am posting for the first time. Have been reading for a while. I wondered how everyone else is doing? Seems like there is different information from different doctors. I am sitting on the loosers bench now with a loss of 27lbs. Today is the first day that I actually didn't loose any at all. I at hamburger meat for the first time last night and was wondering if that is what did it. I have trouble getting in all my water, but no surgery issues so far.
Most of the soft food that I am eating is yogart, cottage cheese, refried beans and mash potatoes. I am drinking a protein shake that I make with this little blender that I purchased called a bullet. It is wonderful, I would recommend it to everyone. It is fast and easy and not much to clean up. I am looking for a local support group. My doctor has one but the drive is quite a ways away. I plan to attend a few times because it is only once a month so I can handle that for a while. How is your water intake and by the way what is they type of surgery you had?
Hi and welcome to the Jan 2009 forum. I am 3 weeks post-op from lap RNY and that's a great weight loss for 2 weeks. I lost 20 the 1st 2 weeks and then only 2 lbs, and our bodies to stop and fluctuate a little. It's really important to take your measurements, because while the weight may slow down, you are probably losing inches during that time.
Best of luck to you and keep up the good work.
Hugs,
Barb

Hi. 27 lb loss is great! I had my gastric bypass 1/12/09. As of Monday I was down 17 lbs. I don't have a scale in my house so I'm not temped to weigh myself every day. I do have a scale at work (where I'll be back starting Monday), but I will try to weigh only 1/wk. I am on pureed food until the end of next week, per my surgeon and nutritionist. I'm still not getting in all my protein (50 gms/day) and water (60-80 oz/day), but I'm trying. I get about 40 protein and about 35 water. I feel like I'm drinking and eating all day long, but with the restriction on the amount I can eat at a time, it's impossible to get it all in now. Good luck and keep up the good work. And also, keep reading the forums. I've gotten a lot of good info here.

Welcome. It sounds like you're doing well. I'll be 2 weeks out this coming Tuesday. I'm waiting for my official weigh-in when I go for my post op visit, but I think I've lost around 10 or so. I guess I'll be a slow loser.
I'm still on the full liquid diet and am looking forward to starting pureed foods on 2/3. I'm ready for something different! Until then, shakes, yogurt, fluids, etc....
I'm glad you've not had any surgical complications. Neither have I.
Yes, everybody's different and different docs ask for different things. Stick to your plan. You're doing well!

Not quite 2 weeks post op - I had my surgery on the 20th. I'm down 12 pounds since my pre op testing appointments (total of 83 pounds). But the big celebration is that I'm under 300 pounds for the first time in YEARS!!! I almost cried when I stepped on the scale.
I'm on my puree diet and looking forward to being able to start getting back to my workout routine and start martial arts. It's so cold here, they don't want me to walk outside, so my husband has been taking me to the mall to do walking.
I'm also having trouble getting in all the fluids and protien, but I keep trying. I don't seem to have as much of a problem with cramps in my pouch as I did a couple days ago....but still not ready to shave my legs!!! LOL

Melissa, its so great to hear about your joy at being under 300lbs. I felt the same way! As a matter of fact it was one of my first goals. One thing about where I live is the weather is never really that bad. I have been able to take walks and that has been nice. I still have problems with my water intake as well. When you say that your down a total of 83 lbs but 12 lbs from your pre op what does that mean?
