3 Weeks -- Anyone Else Out There?
I'm OK- eating about 3/4 cup semi-solid per meal. I'm trying to figure out if I am getting lots of gas from onions or milk -- either is a problem because we use both on a daily basis around here.
What are you using for protein supplementation? I am getting tired ot tasting AnyWhey in everything I eat. Are there any protein supps out there that really don't add a distinctive taste of their own to food?
I know we can't compare, but I'm down 17 pounds, feel my clothes getting a little baggy and loving it!
Right now I am eating 2 egg whites with 1 oz of cheese and 1 oz of tomatoe scrambled and then pureed with 1 T cream of mushroom soup. This totals 13.5 protein.
I have also made beef with onions and garlic and added spagetti sauce.
For protein drinks I love Isopure RTD. You can get that at GNC. 2 protein / oz. It tastes like a juice drink.
I have been using Unjury for protein powder. www.unjury.com. I just ordered some unflavored and I was told it has no taste. I like the chocolate and strawberry sorbet. The chicken soup was great when I was on liquids only.
Good luck, Rachel
Hello maria,
I am 3 weeks and a few days out and Doing good so far. Still having some problems with my water intake as water hurts to drink, but I think I might have cured that by making home made lemonade. It is AWESOME and goes down very easy. I will be living on this from now on I suppose.
I am eating puree still til my Dr's visit on the 5th which will be my one month, we will see what he says when I go in to see him.
My clothes aren't really getting bigger on me just finally looking and fitting better. I have lost like 4 inches in my waist. WOW, I know..
I still have some pains now and again, but I suppose it is to be expected as I am still healing from Major surgery. I have to keep telling myself this over and Over again....
Looks like I am down about 22 lbs total, and I have actually hit a stall and gained like 2.5 lbs in the process. maybe it is because I am not getting enough water, I am working on that.
As for the Protein, I use the New Whey Protein shots, they look like test tubes and I get them at the local healthfood store, they are pretty strong so I dilute them with water 50/50..They come in different fruity flavors and taste somewhat like jello. But it is 42g of protein for 3 oz and I get 6+oz of liquid in with each drink and only have to drink 2 a day...
Anyway it works for me..
Good Luck and God Bless

Well, off to my mid-day pureed turkey and bean soup and vitamins! Then a nice walk, assuming the ice has melted out there. Wet sidewalks with a patch of ice here or there I can manage, but yesterday, everything in my area had a 1/4 inch of ice and it was just too treacherous to contemplate.
My beverage of choice is light cranberry juice sweetened with Splenda mixed 1:3 with ice. It stays nice and cool and I can keep sipping all through my drinking period. (The dilute juice heated with a little cinnamon is also good.) When it's really chilly, I go for flavored teas.
I am three weeks out today. I am on soft/pureed food. I do cottage cheese, ground turkey or ground beef with spaghetti sauce, mashed potatoes, refried beans and cheese.
So far so good. My surgeon focuses on 500 calories per day and not so much on protein for the 1st 2 months. Then protein counts as does 900-1000 calories for 2-6 months post-op.
It's nice when the clothes feel baggy. I've lost about 22 lbs so far.
Have a great evening.

Hi Half_of_Maria:
I was 3 weeks on Tuesday. I am still supposed to be on thick liquids for another week, however I am really doing some mushies already... I'm having a hard time following the rules I guess. My surgeon is great, and his rules are a little stricter than some others, but he has a great success rate. I have more gas than usual, and with foods that I wouldn't think would give me gas. I hear that some people become lactose intolerant, although I don't think that's my issue. I may be swallowing more air from drinking all day long.
I mix my protein powder with water and ice usually. I like Syntrax Nectar Strawberry Kiwi the best - the strawberry flavor isn't fakey, and it is sort of fruit punchy (I'm not a person who likes sweet drinks usually). I have GNC chocolate and vanilla and unflavored, and I have Nectar Cappucino, but even though I thought chocolate would taste best, the strawberry I like better. I have not found the unflavored protein powder very useful. It still has a taste and when I added it to soups or anything that was hot enough for me to like it, it was clumping up and that was grossing me out.
I also feel my previously too tight clothes now fit just right or even loose, like you!
