I'm home!!!
I was discharged tonight around 8pm and am getting settled into my 'bed' for the next little bit - my sis-in-law set me up on the family room couch with a table with bottled water so I don't have to go up and down stairs. I'm gonna write this and snooze for a bit.
I remember being so nervous when I got to the hospital and then they finally took me back to get ready and she weighed me and I was happy that I lost 10lbs on the pre-op diet. I was so afraid I wasn't going to lose anything! My hubby and SIL came back to sit with me and we watched The Fresh Prince reruns until it was time for me to go. They put a cap on my head and wheeled me back. I remember scooting over to the OR table and that's about all she wrote. I woke up in recovery and was super groggy and also pretty nauseous. I was so scared I was going to vomit and worried about how bad that was going to feel!! She gave me some Zofran (sp?) and with some deep breathing I was okay. I got into my room about an hour and a half later and they started my morphine drip. I got up and walked around 10pm and felt a little woozy but made it okay.
The next morning I got up and walked again, this time going to another unit and up and around their nurse station and back. I could feel the gurgling in my tummy from my intestines waking up and I have been burping and farting like a frat boy ever since lol....they don't smell at all but you wouldn't think so if you heard one! My surgeon came in to take my drain out and that felt so weird. The suture just below that is the one that's really sore, it is so tight it left a div-it in my belly. I have 6 really small ones including my drain hole. They are barely noticeable except for the tape except for the bigger one that is pretty sore. I was able to shower by myself and hubby helped me get dressed and I'm finally home. I just feel really tired, you never get good rest in the hospital between visitors and getting poked and prodded every hour or two. I was also very happy to get the catheter out, that sucked so bad!! I've never been so happy to put panties back on! I did not enjoy that experience at all.
I'm getting my water down okay and even some protein mix ins but my surgeons only concern is getting 48oz of water in and then we'll work the rest in later. It does take some getting used to with your sip size because you feel instantly full so I'm doing cap fulls now. I start on pureed foods on Monday. My SIL pureed and froze ice cube trays of tuna and carrots for me so they'd be ready. It was really great to have her here.
Okay, more later on when I'm up and about but I'm here, I did it and I'm so happy I did!!!
