Are we allowed to take a dose of it after surgery?

Just curious...I had to take it the night before my surgery and I could use some of it right now.

Nevermind...I found my answer.

YUCK - it tastes worse now than it did before surgery.

It's weird....I had a BM last Thurs & Fri and now...nothing.  Could it be because I've been having a low fat mozzarella cheese stick once (sometimes twice) a day?

So much for being excited over pooping last week...

I unfortunately am now constipated and my doc told me to go and get some MOM

Quick question... are you allowed to have cheese this early out?

To answer your question...every surgeon is different.

At my post-op visit which was 9 days after my surgery, my surgeon said to try the soft (pureed foods) for 2 days and if I tolerated all of it then I could move to the final (mechanical soft) phase.  So I tried the soft foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc last Thurs and Friday with no problems at all then I started the final phase last Saturday.

My favorite unfortunately is the low fat string mozzarella cheese sticks. I have tried others like lite luncheon meet and have handled it very well.  I strongly recommend the Hillshire farms prepackaged luncheon meets in the dark reddish brown cardboard packaging.  However, I have not been able to tolerate tunafish on triscuits well.  I had a little tunafish on 4 triscuits and lets say I should've stopped at 3 or not at all.  That was such an unpleasant feeling but I am chalking it up to a learning experience.  Maybe I needed to add more lowfat mayo to it - I dunno.  I just know that I will always stop at 3.

I haven't vomited at all yet and I'm thankful for that!  BTW...the MOM that I took last night didn't really help me at all.  I'll have to ask my support group tonight for more advice.

My surgeon has me take a dose if I get a little constipated and it takes a couple of hours, but then it works.  The hard part is getting both tbspoons down.  YUCK!

Hope you get some relief!

You probably already know this, but just in case, my surgeon also said if i got constipated to check my water intake.  Sure enough if I go a day or two below 50oz, I have a problem.  But as long as i am keeping to to at least 50oz, no issues.
