Billie,

I had surgery on the 8th and I am on soft/pureed foods.  I tried ground beef my 1st night but I was too scared to eat much and so I decided to give it another week.  I have had scrambled eggs with cheese and at the advice of some of my Cali board members and my surgery angel I bought a Magic Bullet and it's wonderful.  I have pureed Lentil soup, Bean with Bacon soup, and Split Pea soup and it's so tasty.  I can also have canned fruit in it's own juice and mashed potatoes (haven't had them yet), noodles and unsweetened applesauce.  I will try the ground meat again next week only this time I will add some spaghetti sauce!

Hope all is well and that you are doing great.

Getting better every day though.

Billie,
I have been on soft/puree foods since last Monday. I don't think I am getting enough food in though. In the morning I will have 4 oz of juice/water, decaf coffee with SF creamer, 1 egg scrambled sometimes with a little shredded cheese. Then I will drink water or SF koolaid(watered down alot). For lunch I will have maybe 2 tbsp ricotta cheese with tom sauce and shredded or parm cheese. More liquids after then for dinner maybe soup or refried beans with salsa. Oh, and baked pototoe. I have not been keeping track of my protein yet. I am still trying to get to know my new pouch. I am afraid to eat too much at once. I do not want to know how it feels to be full(it can't be pleasant). I have tried no sugar added carnation instant breakfast and my tummy did not feel well after a few sips. I am not sure if it was the drink or not. I have tried Chike choc protein and it is too thick(kinda gross).
I have had rice crispies with skim too. I have not had alot of milk. Did you know skim milk has alot of sugar in it??
I went to the docs on Thursday and he told me I could advance to solids but to  chew well. I could not believe he told me after only being on softs for 4 days!! Needless to say I have not tried solids yet. Not have I tried any meat yet. I am scared to try stuff!
I can't believe you are going back to work already. I am going to take more time. At first I was going to go back this Monday too but my back has been killing me every afternoon. The doc said that I am probably doing too much in the morning as far as bending, twisting, turning etc. We are moving so I have been cleaning out cupboards and lightly packing. But I think it has been too much. I have time to take so I will.
So how have you been feeling??
I find it hard to sip and not gulp. I have taken like 3-4 gulps and been ok though. I had a bout of bad stomach pains last night with diarrhea. Not sure what that was about. It was lower in my stomach. Other then that just little aches and pains and weird feelings.
So let me know how you are doing and how your first day at work goes. I can't believe it has been 2 weeks already!

I can't believe it has been two weeks either. Time has gone by so fast.  I am afraid work is going to be too much to handle. Guess I will just have to play it by ear. If I can't handle it I will just have to come home.
I haven't been very brave about what I eat either. I have had an egg 2 mornings in a row and that was ok. Today I had turkey chili that I pureed and that was ok.
Friday I had tomato soup and either it was too sweet or I ate it to fast. I got light headed, nausea, and immediate diarrhea. I had to lay downand take a nap. I don't know if that was dumping or not, but it was close enough that I won't be trying tomato soup again for a while. I am not taking any chances.
I still have some pain in my stomach, specially when bending over or standing up.
I also have a hard time not gulping. I am so use to doing that. I tried before surgery to get on the habit of taking small sips. Even then I had a hard time. I know one thing for sure. Cold water bothers my new tummy. I have to drink water at room temperature in order to tolerate it.
At my post op appt my doctor told me that I could advance my diet and resume normal activities as long as I listen to my body.  I just wish I could better tell what foods are gonna be ok. It does make it kind hard to plan meals this early when there is so much yet to try.

I am still on liquids.  I am waiting until after my first post-op appt on Wed before I try pureed food.
I can't wait but at the same time I am afraid of eating food after being on nothing but liquids for 2 weeks. Chopped meat with sauce sounds good. Soups seem safe.  I keep thinking about chicken but I've heard a lot of people have a hard time with chicken after gastric bypass.  I bought a magic bullet a few months ago.  The only thing I used it for so far (pre surgery) was milkshakes and smoothies.

I used my magic bullet today to puree some turkey chili. It worked great and the chili went down and stayed down just fine.

Billie,

I had a tough time the 1st week and a half with cold water. but I am happy to say that changed about 2 days ago and I can get a full 8 oz down between meals.  What helped me a little was drinking herbal tea warm.  I found chamomile and twinings uplifting citrus was REALLY easy.  I used a little sweetener too.

Hope this helps.
