Itching......Is this normal???

Hi Everyone!!

I had surgery on the 13th and for about the past week, I've been itching on my lower belly below my belly button.  It looks red a splotchy.  It protrudes my stretch marks and just itches all the time.  Is this normal?  Any suggestions??

Do you or did you have the steri strips in that spot? I was very itchy near the steri strips.

As long as they are not red and oozing you're fine.  My surgeon said I could apply topical benedryl cream for itching.  I hope this helps.

Yes this is normal.  I had my surgery on the 14th and I too have been itching.  The most basic answer without being complicated is that the itching is caused by the new growth/healing tissue at your incision sites.  This will subside and you can put anti-itch cream on it.  It is important not to scratch at your incisions though(I'm sure you know this) You don't want to open them up, or introduce bacteria from your nails to the healing wound.
