1200 calories! Are you freakin kidding me?

How on earth are we supposed to be getting our 1200 calories a day?  I didn't realize we were supposed to be eating that much.  I have logged in every thing that I have eaten in my fitday and I am lucky to reach 600 calories a day.  Soup, SF jello, pudding, and protein shakes just dont have that many caories!  Maybe things will be different once I am fully healed!

How many calories a day are you eating?  Do you feel full after the first few bites?

Although I'm terrible at keeping a log, I would have to assume I'm at least at 1000 calories.  If you have a Whey protein supplement and mix that with 8oz of milk, that is somewhere in the neighborhood of 250-300 calories (plus the good protein) per serving.  Add to that your breakfast, lunch, dinner each consisting of a protein food those should be about 200 calories each at least, especially with the fruit or veggie on top of that.  My doc starts his patients on puree and soft foods on post op day 3, but others on here go to liquids only after operation.  I guess it depends on your doc and nutritionist.  I'm starting week 3 post op and get "soft" foods now.  I made some salmon and brocolli the first night and it was such a treat to chew food once again.  Everything tasted great and went down easy.

And to answer you question, I NEVER feel full.  I'm convinced they just cut me and didn't do a bypass at all.  ha ha  Actually, I don't feel hungry or full and I have no sensation of the "pouch" or anything in it.

Jamie,

It amazes me how much of a difference there is between surgeons.  I am only allowed 500 calories per day.  They don't worry about protein until the 3rd month, although they want you to "try" to get between 60-80 gr of it in.  I am not too sure how to keep it at 500 cal and try to get the amount of protein in, so I have just the opposite issue.

I love Fitday.  I purchased the upgrade today and that's really good too.  Oh well, we just take it day by day huh?  So far so good though. Glad you're doing great.

That sounds like alot! That would be for a normal stomach!
Good thing I don't have to count those! I barely eat! In fact I am sure I am not even close to the amount that I am supposed to be eating. My doc didn't seem to concerned about numbers. Just try foods and get a feel for your new stomach. I am afraid to eat too much so I do not know what full feels like nor do I want to experience it.
For now I am taking it easy and trying new stuff one thing at a time in case there is something that doesn't agree with my pouch I will know what it is.

My surgeon's nutrition after wls manual states a minimum of 800 kcal (what is that?!) for less than 3 months out and then up to a minimum of 1000 kcal after that.

Well, I got only approx 620 cal today...not sure what that means in "kcal" though...

I only feel 'full' after the first few bites if it's certain foods like cottage cheese or tuna fish on triscuits.  I feel full too late when I'm drinking protein shakes.
