Home at last, but I am SO tired.
Okay, I expected to be sleepy from anesthesia the first few post-op days, but I am going thru weird bouts of tiredness. I will be alert and energized for about two hours and all of a sudden I am down for the count for about 2-3 hours. LOL, it's like watching a new puppy.........it chases it's tail for about twenty minutes and then sacks out for the rest of the afternoon (slight exageration, I know).
I know how important our vitamins are and how they can directly impact energy, but my surgeon said to avoid supplements until my 10 day post-op/drain removal appointment. Anybody, out there two weeks post-op or so, that remebers feeling this tired the first week. I dunno, maybe it's just my bodies way of healing.

Elly,
First of all, welcome home. I had my RNY on 1/8/09 and the day I came home I took several naps. Every body is so different but yours is telling you that you need more rest. Are you sleeping well at night? If not, you may be trying to make up for what you are not getting at night.
Enjoy it and welcome it because it means you are healing.
Best of luck and hugs,
Barb

Thanks guys. You're right, it's just my bodies way of healing. I'm the type of person that is always on the go and super-independent. I need to learn to relax and not force myself into the next stage of healing. I'm within 6 oz of the amount of water I am supposed to be at and I'm sleeping thru the night with the exception of repositioning.
WELCOME HOME BARB!!!
WELCOME HOME BARB!!!
my surgery was on 1-5 and I was tired almost all of the first week afterward taking a nap in the afternoon for a hour or two. I was still taking the pain meds at night and after I stopped taking any pain meds I haven't needed that afternoon nap to make it through the day. Are you still taking any pain meds? Anyway my advice is to let your body heal in its own time--you will probably have lots of energy in another week! I have been taking chewable children's complete vitamins from day 1 after surgery--it is weird how much some of the docs differ on some things.
Good luck!
Amy
