Who thinks the Liquid Diet STINKS???

I can definately feel your pain. I started my liquids on December 29th. My surgery date is Jan. 12th. It has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I had two kids after laboring with no pain meds for 9 hours and the had to have emergency c-section wih both kids. That was easy compared to this. I will confess that I have cheated a little bit. I know the reasons for the liquids, but it doesn't mean I have to like them. The only good thing about it so far is, I have lost 8 pounds is 7 days.
We just have to stay strong. It will be so worth it in the long run!!
Praying for a healthy and thinner 2009.

Mine is the 12th too!!  Are you nervous/anxious/excited/????

I know the reasons that the doctor told us for the liquids... but I still don't understand it and I sure as heck don't like 'em!!!!

I've cheated a teeny bit too... how can you not??  I mean, if I had this kind of willpower, I wouldn't be where I am right now!!

Thanks!!

Lots of luck with it... I won't say that it gets easier, but it doesn't get harder.  Just try to keep something in your mouth all the time.  Popsicles seem to do it for me.  Still... it's tough.  Stay on the boards and get support for OH friends!!

Liquid diet was a nightmare for me - literally.....

I was violently ill for like 3-4 days after starting it and I thought I was allergic to the powder (nice try, huh?).  Called the doc and they told me what I had experienced was normal for the liquid diet.  It was worse than the pains of childbirth.

I'm hearing that some of you are allowed FF puddings and strained soups. That's pretty cool.  I was given the Optifast and told to take it 4 times a day and I was allowed lettuce with vinegar, celery, clear broth ir SF Jello.  That's it.  No one told me to be sure to drink a TON of water along with it or that I could have SF Jello.

At any rate, good luck to you all and hang in there.

Kristen

PS Banana flavoring and instant coffee in the shake makes it bearable for me.

O wow... allergic to the shake?  That had to suck!!  I had bouts of diarrhea myself...I figured it was some sort of initiation... like a colon cleansing or something!!

I tried banana flavoring... it was ok... but let me tell you this... put some coconut extract, rum extract and banana extract and have yourself a pina colada!!  mmmm!!

Liquids are very hard.  I started on Dec 23rd.  My surgery is Jan 5th.  I have been dreaming about food for the past 3 nights.  I just want to be able to chew something.  The majority of the things that I am drinking are all sweet.  I just want something salty.  I am so close to surgery that I can mess up.

I made lasagna, salad and bread sticks tonight.  That was rough.  I made it through and I was proud of myself for that.  I guess I do have self control---who would have known.

Every one keep your heads up.  Just take it one meal at a time.  Looke to the prize at the end.  We all want to be as healthy as we can right?  If it takes doing a liquid diet to regain some quality of life, this is all worth it.

I know this is hard but as they say..........no pain no gain.

Girl I know its hard I started 7 days ago and my surgery is the 6th....taking food away from someone that LOVESSSSS food is horrible.  Thankfully my family has been behind me and have made me stay away from the kitchen.   It's hard to cook for someone else and not have any yourself!  That is self control!  We wil get through it though...its only going to make whats coming easier!  I'm on SF carnation instant breakfast, i drink the chocolate drinks and they are not too bad.  I have low energy and have very bad gas sometimes...lol  Can't wait for this to be over!

I can't find the SF Carnation stuff.  I have been using the 100% whey - no sugar, and I mix it with milk and sometimes s/f ice cream.  It's ok.

Thankfully, my dh is doing this with me.  I cannot believe his self control!!  I couldn't do it without his support!
