Who thinks the Liquid Diet STINKS???

OMG!!!  I am so sick of this freakin' liquid diet!  2 WEEKS is an awful lot to ask of someone who is totally addicted to food.  It's like asking someone who has smoked for 20 years to quit cold turkey for 2 weeks!!

I guess I am just failing to see the entire point of the total sugar free liquids.  Why can't I have an egg... or a bowl of low sugar oatmeal... or some toast?  I don't want to go to TGI Fridays and totally pig out... I just want a little something I can CHEW!!!

I dunno... it just seems like an awful lot to ask of us..

There, I'm through.

I completely understand where you are coming from! I am having my surgery on Tuesday Jan 6th, so I started my liquid diet on Dec 23. It has been soooo frusterating. Especially going through it during the holidays. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact that I want an easy post op. If i get just alittle bit off prior to my surgery that is less that I am going to struggle with after. My dr told me that the only reason they have us do the liquids prior to surgery is to shrink the liver. This will allow them to get to the stomach easier. And there is less risk that they will have to open you up. And I dont know about you but I would rather have several small cuts than one really really large on. Just hang in there and be strong. I know it is hard!!! Good Luck!!

I wonder why some doctors require 2 weeks, some 10 days, some 1 week and some 3 days.  I think I could feel better about it if it was only 3 days!!  Thanks for your support!

GIRL we all feel the same !! I have been on my pre-op Liquid diet since Dec 26th.. My surgery is on Jan 9th FRIDAY !!! You can do it though ... Just take one day at a time.. What kills me is making dinner for my family. If I didn't have my daughters I would just  tell my husband to go make himself something lol.. Like right now I have a pot roast in the oven and the smell is KILLING ME !! I just have alot of Sugar Free Puddings and stuff lol...

THANK GOODNESS I have a husband who is INSISTING on doing this with me.  Love his heart, he has been on the liquid diet with me.  Oh, he needs to drop some pounds, but he can do it the old fashioned way.  He is very sweet.  And my daughter is very flexible.  She has been eating corn dogs, sandwiches, Subways and one night her grandpa took her out for Tacos.

You deserve some sort of medal for cooking a roast while being on liquids...

Kim,

We're all in this with you.  Keep your eye on the prize! Take it 4 hours or an hour at a time.  SF jello and stained soups (progresso light) are really working for me because they give extra flavor and something chewy.  Another thing, maybe freeze your shake and see if it satisfies you when it's icy and cold.

You can do it, you're not alone.

I LOVE the idea of freezing the shake!! I am so going to try that!!  That will even be a great idea for post op and being able to keep it slow.

Yep - it's not great, but on the other hand I started to see some weight going DOWN instead of the usual UP - so that's worth something!  I am self-pay and need to be careful to follow the rules, not that I shouldn't follow them anyways.  My surgery is Tuesday, and I thought it was a long time coming.  Yours will be here very soon!
