Hi my name is Teri Lynn Gould and I'm having ds done with Dr. L on Jan 27th. My dad, David Gould (I cant get over how there is a doctor who does wls named David Gould) is coming with me and refuses to leave me after I go to the hotel (he is so sweet and I'm very happy about him staying with me). I started sept 27, 2008 in requesting for ohip to cover a ds surgery. I was told about Oct 27, 2008 that I could meet with the doctor (I was told once I got this letter I wouldnt be told no for the surgery) and then I met Dr. L on Dec 1st and was told I would be having it done either in Jan or Feb of 2009. I got called on Dec 3rd that it was on Jan 27 at 10am. I'm having issues now with wanted to sleep cause I'm worried, scaried and happy at the same time. I really havent posted on the boards but I have read alot.

I was told that I needed to lose 15 pounds before the surgery and I still need to lose but I think Dr. L's scale is off by a few pounds cause I dont think it's possible to lose 8 pounds in less then 4 days. (I'm still hoping that it is right cause it helps me get closer to that goal that is so far away). I know the doctor wont cancel the surgery if I dont lose it but I will disapoint my dad for not doing what the doctor told me to do.

I just wi**** would happen so I can be healthy and not need to worry about how my health affects everyone else in my family. Here I'm worried about everyone else but me and I know it should be me I should be worrying about being 23 days from my big day.

Teri Lynn,
Welcome to the Jan. forum, and congrats. on your surgery date! It sounds as if your father will be a great help and support for you, which is great. Just remember that you are having this surgery for YOU. Sure, others may reap some of the benefits (such as not worrying about you or your health), but it is ultimately for you. Stick to your surgeon's instructions to the letter post-op- as we all must do- and you will do fine. Looking forward to seeing you here  post-op to hear how you're doing!
Good Luck!
