Hi.  I'm Amanda :-)  I've been a member for a few months but am just now finding the forums for the people having surgery the same month I am so I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and say hello.

I'm scheduled for surgery January 26th and start my liquid diet on the 12th.  I plan to do the Carnation instant breakfast thing but get my official list on the 6th at my NUT and pre-op screening visit.  I meet with my surgeon on the 8th and if all goes well with the pre-op testing I'm ready to roll on the 26th.  I'm very nervous and excited as I'm sure most of you are, too but I'm trying to stay positive because I think that has everything to do with how you feel.

I look forward to getting to know you as we travel down the same road on this journey.  Best wishes to everyone having surgery!!!

Hi Amanda and welcome.  I had to do a double take on your city and state because I live in Concord, CA!

Best of luck on your surgery, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Wow!  Everyone has been so friendly and supportive.  I really appreciate it.  I know I'll have a million questions about what is or isn't normal after surgery because you can read every book but everyone has a different experience.  It's so nice to know I can come here to get some answers, love and support.

Let the countdown begin!!!  I cannot wait to be a LOSER!!!

Hi Amanda, and welcome to the Jan. board! You're right about how important it is to stay positive. We all know what MAY happen, but we don't want to dwell on those remote possibilitis. We have to go into this knowing in our hearts that we are making the right decision and that we will be OK. Stay busy, and get your post-op supplies in order!  Good Luck on your surgery. I added you to the Jan. Surgery list.

I'm also getting the RNY and hope and pray there are no setbacks with the pre-op.  I don't expect there to be anything holding back the surgery but you never know.  I just feel so excited and prepared for it and am so ready (I think!).  I ordered my blender bottles last night and I'm picking up my Unjury protein powder on Tuesday when I meet with my NUT.  I have some sample menus for the pureed diet and am blenderizing pork, tuna, carrots, etc. and am freezing them in ice cube trays and separating them in freezer bags so when it's time to eat I can pull out my portion w/o having to worry about whipping something up and cleaning the blender 42 times a day.  I also got a really cute paisley notebook that will fit in my purse so I can keep a food diary to track mostly liquids at first and 'real' food later on.  I pulled out my packet last night and was re-reading it for what seems like the 500th time!!  I can't believe it's almost time for me to start my new life.   I know it's going to be a bumpy road but knowing I will be fit enough to chase my little girl around is worth every bump.  Hip Hip HOORAY!!!

Thank you for adding me to the January list, glad to be a part of it.
