I have been on my low carb diet for 2 days now and I am doing really well. I did get really hungry about 3 pm, but this happens every day, so I ate a cheese stick. Anyway, I am so proud of myself. I guess I need to get one of those weighloss tickers so I can keep track of myself. I am going to weigh myself every stinking day.......hehehehe.

Good for you!
I started my preop shakes/liquids today, and ended up cheating at the end of the day.  Oh well - tomorrow is another day!
But I will keep stepping on the scale and trying again!

Joan, Just keep on trying. You can do it. It will be worth it in the end.

Joan,
What is your pre-op diet?? Mine is 2 weeks of Medifast shakes! They are horrible! I am supposed to drink 5 a day!  I want to eat!
You have probably read this already because I have been whining about it on several other posts.
Sorry, but why do some people get to eat on pre-op diet and some are lucky that they don't have to to any diet??
I have only had 1/2 shake so far. They are gross!

Sorry but I am like you one of the people who is not supposed to eat preop.  I am supposed to have 3 whey protein shakes a day plus clear liquids (just as if I were postop).  Luckily I have my surgery on Tuesday so not too long.

My surgeon provided a list of them - the key was at least 15 grams of protein and not too many carbs.  I've never tasted a medifast shake.

When I prepare my shakes I use a bottle with a cap, put in 1 cup of water, 1 scoop of the protein powder

I have decided I can't do this without tasting a spoonful of what I am cooking for my kids, but I am trying not to eat any real portions.

Best wishes,

Joan

Way to go Emily.. I know that it's hard, but I am proud of you..  I have the ticker, but am also going to get a little journal/notebook and weigh myself every morning to keep track of my progress.. But remember, weighing yourself everyday they say NOT to do, cause sometimes it can discourage if you see numbers that you don't think should be there..  Not everone is the same, guys loose faster than girls, and it is okay to get stuck "in a rut" for a while.  Don't ever feel like you are not loosing fast enough. It will come in time, and with hard work...  I know you will do great..

Have a very Happy & Safe New Years..

Hugs,
Jenn

Jenn, thanks so much for the encouragement. It really means a lot to me. I know weighing everyday may become frustrating. I already forgot to weigh this morning so I probably won't end up weighing every day, but hope to get it in once a week a least. I don't want to get discouraged. I am going to go get some ketosis strips at Wal Mart today. I want to make sure I am in the fat burning stage.
Have a great New Years.
