Hello! I have a January surgery!

Hello Everyone!  I am having my RNY on January 5th in Lexington, KY.  I go meet with my surgeon on December 31st.  I also go through the Bari-bootcamp on this day also!  I am a big ball of nerves.  I am excited and nervous. I just hope for an uneventful surgery.  Wish me luck!  And I wish luck and prayers to all that are getting ready to go through surgery!

Congrats. I am so excited for you. I am still waiting on a date. I have my pre op with the surgeon on Jan 6th. I am so excited. What is bari bootcamp? I haven't heard of this.

Bari-Bootcamp is where you go in and meet your surgeon and the whole team goes over what to expect before and after surgery.  It last like 2 hours.  It is something that the St Josephs Center for Weightloss surgery in Lexington, KY does for there patients prior to surgery.  I cannot wait to see what else I will learn!  I am extremely excited and very nervous at the same time.  I just hope this is uneventful, and goes smoothly.  I just want to have this surgery and get back home to my kids and eventually go back to work (per my surgeon that will be a week after surgery.)  So just keep me in your thoughts and prayers okay!!!  Let me know when you get your date! Congrats on your date, Ruthann! I'm a day behind you. My surgeon's office had a bari-bootcamp also! They went over the entire surgical process from when you check into the hospital to when you leave. They also talked about the diet progression in detail as well as vitamins and fluids- of course protein was stressed! THEN we met with the exercise physiologist (they have a gym at the center) and went through core training exercises for an hour- what a sight that must have been! Imagine a group of out-of-shape, morbidly obese people in an exercise class, using those big exercise balls...

Anyways, good luck with your surgery- We are looking forward to hearing how you're doing.

Hi Ruthann!  My date is the same day!  I am in mn and having my lap rny in Sioux Falls, SD.  I had my boot camp today.  I am sooo excited and nervous at the same time, too.  I only have to do the liquid diet the day before surgery--what about you?  I  will be thinking of you on Jan 5th.  My surgery is at 1pm so I am hoping it all goes smoothly so my hubby can be home by dinner to let my boys know mom is okay.  We will soon be on the losers bench together.  We have 6 days left!  Welcome and I hope we can chat and keep up with each other.  GOOD LUCK!
