I need to be on a low carb diet for a month before surgery.  I think because of christmas I just can't seem to eat right.  I have to go on all liquid protein in 2 weeks, I hope I can lose enough to get surgery.  I will be so upset with myself if I go in and my liver is to fatty to operate!

why can't I do this?

I have been fretting over the pre-op diet as well.  I am afraid I won't lose the weight and can't get the procedure.  My Dr has me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks proir to my procedure which is jan 6th.

You will be fine.  Just take it one day at a time.  If that is too much take it one meal at a time.  Always come to the forum if you feel you are going to cheat.  I have found this site so helpful especially the past couple of days, which have been kind of tough.

Keep your head up.

I am sorry you are having a hard time. You aren't alone. I have been trying to get on the low carb diet too and I am having a difficult time as well. Make sure you have your staple items....cheese sticks, boiled eggs, beef jerky. It is so hard, and I feel for you. I have the same worries as well. I have fatty liver disease so I am afraid too. Big hugs,
Emily

Hi, I am so sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I know I would be having the same struggles as you are right now, so don't be so hard on yourself. Just gather as much information as you possibly can then write down the ones you like and fit into your life-style then you will have a really good diet plan for yourself. Best Wishes, Robin

im having a bad time of it myself.  its like there are cookies, cakes, dips, sodas.......I mean dear Lord I know that this is a lifestyle change but crap thats why I need the help of the band.  i just feel like total s*#t right now.  did dr jawad give you a number of pounds he wanted you to lose before surgery? he didn't give me one.  im just suppose to be on a low card diet then two week before surgery (which should start any day now) on replacing two meals with protein drinks then one meal thats low carb.  i never made it to the low carb diet.  And feel like such a failure.  So, do you think he won't do the surgery?  anyway, when did you have your preop? mine was thursday the 20th.  nothing to exciting. just wondered if you had gone yet.

No Dr Jawad didn't give me a # of pounds to lose.  At the moment I have not lost any weight yet.

What was the pre op like?  Did it really last all day?  I'm not looking forward to it!  My husband took the day off to take care of my kids, so my mom has to go to the pre op with me.  We live 150 miles from the office, so it is going to be a very long day!

Thank you all for your kind words of support!  I will do this!  I have to!  I'm so glad I don't have to go through this alone!

If you could do it, you wouldn't need weight loss surgery!
I was told to lose 10-15 pounds before hand too...I've lost 5. Now I have less then 3 weeks!

A lady on the DS board told me she gained 10 pounds before surgery, she says just butter up the surgeon and say you did your best and you have complete faith that his surgical skill is so great that he can easily do the procedure...or something like that!
