All of our doctors are soooo different

It is so odd to me how all of the doctors do so many different things.  My surgery is Jan 14 and I am only required to do two days of liquid diet.  There was no pre-op diet.  They just suggested i wean myself off of sugar and carbonated beverages since I wouldn't be able to have them for a while after surgery.

i see some people posting about these liquid diets for several weeks.  Well i am going to be in Disney World from Dec.24-Jan.4th and I have reservations at a zillion of our favorite restaurants down there!  kind of lke my last supper!

If I had another surgeon, I might have been spending my vacation I have waited all year for eating soup and pudding!

Does anyone else find it weird how they all do such different things?

It just seems interesting to me.

I am just BIG TIME EXCITED to be part of this group of New Year's LOOOOOOOSERS!!!!

If you had my doc you'd spend your vacation drinking nothing but Boost Glucose Control and other zero calorie liquids like water and Crystal lyte for two weeks.  The theory is that a radical weight loss like that shrinks the liver and gives them more room to work and makes the surgery much safer.

I just hope I survive that two weeks.  It scares me more than the surgery.

Best wishes for your new year

Yeah I have always wondered the same thing. My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet or anything. The only thing is I can't have a huge dinner the night before. I have heard that when you have aliquid diet the days before it helps shrink the liver and helps the doctor find everything easier.
Have a nice vacation. Me and my family we're already planning on going next summer but now I we'll be healthier and it will be easier for me to enjoy everything.

Oh I so know what you mean.. I am still pre-op (Surgery on the 6th of Jan)  but went to my pre-op info apt yesterday..  I too only have to do 2 days.. The first day, liquid diet, and then the second day I have to take the bowel prep, and I will be in surgery after that..    I was so scared to think that I was going to have to do a full 2 weeks or more (sorry guys and girls for those of you who do have to do that) of the liquid diet.. I mean come on, I can possibly see a week, but 2.. CRAZY...

So this Christmas, I am going to enjoy it, cheri**** and say goodbye to some of my favorite foods..

Hugs to you and I wish you all the best with your surgery..

Jenn

tHANKS EVERYONE FOR RESPONDING AND GOOD LUCK TO AL OF MY FELLOW JANUARY FOLKS!

I am really glad I can enjoy Disney and all of the wonderful dining without really worrying too much.  I am trying to cut back and cut out a lot of the foods I cannot have afterwards, but I GUARANTEE I will have ONE pastry from France while I am there!

But I think when I get back, I am going to try and do a mostly liquid diet for that week before my surgery.  Anything I can do to make it go easier for my doc, I am willing to try!  i am starting to get a little nervous.....at least after Wednesday i will have vacation rto take my mind off of the wait and the jitters.

I feel like i will be saying goodbye to a part of Disney.  I know that sounds crazy.....but we go every year at least once, and Disney is like a second home.  It feels good to know that this will be my last trip where I feel uncomfortable because of my weight.

This is the last trip where I hide from the cameras.........and the last trip where I feel like everyone is watching the fat girl.......i know it is silly,, but for me that is a big deal.

I am the only overweight person in my family, and it will feel so good next yar to walk around and feel NORMAL!    I wonder how different it will be????
