Hello Everyone! January 12th! Anyone With Me That Day?
Hi Lisa, Thanks for reminding me about the chapstick! I even bought a few just in case I lost one or two before the 12th! I am not bringing my nice robe ladies due to the fact that one of my friends that had her surgery on Nov.21st had hers stolen right out of her hospital room. I am just bringing an inexpensive one that will cover me up when walking in the halls. Please do not bring anything like MP3 player, hand held video games etc. they will just mysteriously walk away...save yourselves the pain of losing your lovely items. Thanks Lisa {{HUGS}} Robin

Hello Ladies my name is Vonna i'm from NY and I am 333lbs at 21years old. I too am having surgery on January 12th and I'm glad to have found this forum because as each day passes I'm getting more and more afraid and excited for this change and having others going through the same feelings can help me get through it. I'm having open RNY and I dont have any pre-op dieting but good luck to you ladies who do and i look forward to hearing from you all.
hello all....i also have a date of jan 12th!!!!! would love to have some people to talk things out with. I don't have my pre op with the doc till jan 8th and wish that it was sooner becuase I feel left out in the dark as far as what I should be doing. I am not required to do a liquid diet or anything else special and feel like I should be doing something more.
Hello Iah, Welcome & Congratulations on your date! I am so happy you have found our group. I am so sorry you are feeling left out in the dark, that's not a good feeling at all. I do know that not all Dr.'s require their patients to be on any special diet prior to surgery and some wait just days before surgery to do the pre-op. If you have any questions on what you could be doing, please don't hesitate to call your Dr.'s office and just ask. I promise you will feel so much better if you knew for sure. Please keep us all updated. Robin
Dear Group, I would like to post a list of Pre-Op Liquid Diet choices for everyone having to go on a pre-op liquid diet. This will also come in handy for post op as well. Remember these are just suggestions and please always follow your Dr.'s advice. These are CLEAR/Sugar free/ and NOT considered sources of Protein:
Bottled Water or Tap
Water w/ fresh lemon or lime slices
SF Tang
Fruit 2 0 Sam's
Diet Snapple (any flavor)
Crystal Light (any flavor)
Flavor H20 Walgreen's Brand
Propel Water (any flavor)
Sobe Lean SF
Wyler's Lite
Wal-Mart SF Drink mix (any flavor)
SF Kool-Aid (any flavor)
Minute Maid Light Lemonade
SF & Caffeine Free Tea, Cold or Hot
Diet V8 Splash
Decaf Coffee
SF Popsicles (no creamy flavors)
SF Jell-O
Low Sodium Broth (any flavor)
any other suggestions please list them. This is also a great time to start thinking of Protein Mixes- Very important! Vitamin Supplements start getting them now group...we must have these on hand at home when we return home from surgery.
*In Case You Did Not Know*
we will no longer be allowed to take ANY advil, ibuprofen, NSAIDS or asprin (or products containing these medicines) Tylenol will be our over the counter pain reliever from now on. Please ask your surgeon but from what I understand some will allow their patients to swallow pills right after surgery and some do not- mine does not for a total of 6 months! I must have liquid Tylenol on hand, and maybe you will have to also. Please know this before you have your surgery, so you can have it when you may need it.
Thanks. Hope to see many, many posts very soon...Robin
