Just found this site--Surgery on Jan 19
What a cool site. I see that others are as excited--yet nervous as me!
My big thing I am doing to prepare for surgery is giving up smoking. Today was day 4 smoke-free. Using Chantix with good success.
My kitchen is packed with clear liquids, I have some protein mixes on hand. I have stuff to puree. I'm dieting and exercising. I think I'm ready. Oh, yes and i've bought my Gas -X Strips to take to the hospital!
And I have told no one except my husband, and wont tell anyone until just before my surgery.
Hugs,

Honest, there is nothing to this. They have you do some paperwork, take you and whoever is driving you back to a room. You put on a hosital gown, they start an IV. They ask you over and over if you have ever had any trouble with anesthia. they put you to sleep and what seems like seconds later to you, you wake up. My DH has had several of these and he gets a sore throat that last about a day after them, I did not.
They are looking for ulcers and hernias, basicly your doc just doeesn't want any surprises on surgery day. You'd probably know it if your stomach wasn't OK because you'd be having symptoms.
Hope that helps.
Hugs,
Deb
