What a cool site.   I see that others are as excited--yet nervous as me!

My big thing I am doing to prepare for surgery is giving up smoking.  Today was day 4 smoke-free.  Using Chantix with good success.

My kitchen is packed with clear liquids, I have some protein mixes on hand.  I have stuff to puree.  I'm dieting and exercising.  I think I'm ready. Oh, yes and i've bought my Gas -X Strips to take to the hospital!

And I have told no one except my husband, and wont tell anyone until just before my surgery.

Hugs,

Deb C

Hi Deb. It is nice to meet you. Congrats on your January surgery date. I know you must be really excited. I know I am and I don't even have a date yet. My pre-op with the surgeon is on Jan 6th. I am hoping to come home with a date on that date. Sounds like you are all prepared for you post op. I never thought of Gas X strips. That is a great idea. I am so excited. I have bought protein powders and all the chewable and sublingual vitamins. I haven't stocked my cabinets yet. I will wait to do that til I have a date. It is great to have you on the January board. Post often and keep us updated.

What sub-lingual vitamins did you order?  My doc hasn't said anything about that yet, but then I don't meet with the nut until Jan 5, when I start my 2 weeks of Liquids.

Hugs,

Deb

Hi Deb. I went to www.celebratevitamins.com and got sublingual B-12, Chewable Iron, and chewable Calcium. As for the multivitamin my surgeon suggests chewable centrum. HOpe this helps.

Yea--I think that makes us surgery sisters.  How was your endoscopy today.  Mine was a piece of cake.  Is your tummy OK for surgery?

Deb

Hey Deb

OK...walk me through what happens...and what to except when they look down my throat with the little camera. That's the last test i have to do b4 my surgery.   I'm so excited!!   What if my tummy is not OK for surgery...what could make it not OK??

HELP!!   LOL

Honest, there is nothing to this.  They  have you do some paperwork, take you and whoever is driving you back to a room.  You put on a hosital gown, they start an IV.  They ask you over and over if you have ever had any trouble with anesthia. they put you  to sleep and what seems like seconds later to you, you wake up.  My DH has had several of these and he gets a sore throat that last about a day after them, I did not.

They are looking for ulcers and hernias, basicly your doc just doeesn't want any surprises on surgery day.  You'd probably know it if your stomach wasn't OK because you'd be having symptoms.

Hope that helps.

Hugs,

Deb
