Hi Emily,
I'm a little nervous about the hair loss and how my body will react to liquids. I guess I really didn't expect to get approved so fast since I have less than 100lbs to loose and my BMI was borderline. B But I guess with the sleep apnea and just finding out that I have acute reflux, it's happening faster than I expected. I have my nutrition class and pre admission testing on 12/19. My husband is very supportive and going with me to the class. I'm just starting to make my list of all the vitamin and protein supplements I'll need. I noticed some folks have started the supplements before surgery. Is that necessary or just a personal preference?

Hi to ALL!
I generally read on the main board and the RNY board, but as many have already said: it can get pretty nasty!! I just found this group by accident!
I'm Laurie, and I'll be having open RNY 1/6/09!! I can't believe how easy the whole insurance process was for me. I started this process in mid-Sept. (although I have been researching it forever) and I just got the call this week that I was approved and had a date. I have read so many horror stories about the hoops that people have to jump through with insurance and my heart goes out to them. Deciding to have major, life-altering surgery is stressful enough without adding on crap from the Insurance company.
My surgeon doesn't require weight loss pre-op, but I'm going to stick to South Beach 100% until surgery, just to be in better shape going in. That will keep me away from the goodies over the Holidays, so I won't have to worry about gaining extra pounds before the "big day".
I look forward to getting to know everyone.
