30 of us so far!
thank you..its a new wls procedure that is done transorally (through the mouth). they use the toga instrument which has special staples and they put it down the throat and staple the stomach that way there are no incisions....so far it has been done in belgium and mexico sucessfully for a yr on about 75 people.... it just came to the u.s at the beggining of the yr so its still in the clinical trial phase.... my surgeron has done the surgery on 4 people locally so far and she has done it in belgium and at a uniniversity ....so im confident in her....
you dont lose as much weight as i would with rny but you lose more weight then you would with the lap band...and not being able to absorb nutrients is not a problem because the intestines are not re-routed....its going to be interesting and i cant wait to get it done but as with all clinical trials there is a "control group" which is the 1/3 of people who will not get the actually surgery so they can prove to the fda that the people with the surgery lost more weight than the people who didnt get it.

im sorry i didnt notice your post til today.... i went to clinicaltrials.gov and found the website. togaclinicalstudy.com and i waited til the city closest to me was recruiting. took the survery and the people called me and it was history from there.... i hope i am part of the group who gets the surgery too...i am forever praying that i am but if not they offer it for a free after a yr of being in the study so if not jan6, 2009 ill get it in 2010

yes that is exactly what it means...you will not know if you got the actual surgery or not until a yr later. and if they reveal that you did not get it you can get the surgery for free if you still meet the requirements...the predict that once the surgery gains approval from the fda and the have a fw notche under the belt doing it...it will be an outpatient procedure...
