Just some helpful stuff to know b4 surgery....and some stuff i am working on b4 my surgery...just wanted to pass it along to all of you!!
stock up on your vitaims ( walgreens, K-mart and wal-mart always ahve a buy one get one or 50% off on their vitiams)
start stocking up on things for your liguid diet
stock up on your protien drinks
get a AFTER WLS cookbook or print things off the internet and start making some of them now. See what you like and dont like and what works for your family.
Go ahead and give up soda and anything with caffinee or carbation. Start drinking a ton of water and WALK WALK WALK.
Keep a journal of what your triggers are and what time of day you have the most problem with food. Try and find some kind of hobby or activity that you can do when thoese craving hit. Try to avoid what triggers you to eat...or at least be aware of what they are so you know how to prepare and how to deal with them.
Work on CHEWING YOUR FOOD and trying to slow down when you eat.
I have heard that getting theses things will also be helpful for after surgery
Sippy cup
baby spoons
small plate and bowl ( Target has some good ones )
Crysatl Light on the go packets
Pill holder for the week
pill spliter/crusher ( at Walgreens..its about $6 a must have!!)
a shaker cup...one that has a bottom that holds the dry protien powder that you can add when ready...good for on the go or at work...the one I saw also had a reuseable ice cube thing in it...ill have to ask where she got it)
Words of advice....this site is VERY helpful and you CAN find a ton of suppourt and have most of your questions answered on here. Beware...they are VERY honest on here. People are at different points in their journey. Its hardest the first 6 months after...and some of thoses people are a little negative. Please dont get scared off by them...LOL They tell it like it is....be sure to see what people futher out have to say and how they feel about the surgery!!
