Yes ladies and gents! Monday 1/7/08 is my lap band surgery date. I am happy yet a bit afraid as this will be a major event for me since I have been obese for the past 20 plus years. I thank God that he has kept me and has allowed me to make it this far. I had an original date of 10/25/07 but had to pu**** back due to my job and a promotion i received. I have my last appt with my physician Friday, 12/7 to sign final paperwork and to meet with the dietician. I am supposed to go on a liquid diet two weeks prior to my surgery which will be the week of Christmas and New Years. Now this will be extremely hard because my family has always been big eaters around this time of year. I think i might have to stay in my mothers basement on Christmas Eve and Christmas day because i know seeing all the food and desserts will tempt me to just say "to hell with this liquid diet mess" (lol). I wouldnt do that because this surgery is more important to me. Please keep me in your prayers my fellow bandsters and gatric bypass family. As I will keep all of you in mine.
Topic: Hold a spot on the Loser's bench for me 1/2/08
I finally got my date for my RNY surgery. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at 12:30.
I can't wait to be on the loser's bench. I know I will healthier after this surgery.
I may have my days that I will wish that I didn't do it, but it happens to almost everyone, so I have heard. In the long run, I will be much healthier. I will have a better self-esteem.

Got a call from Doctors office... I have to go in for more blood work... I'm anemic and vitimin D deficient. I guess I'll start my vitimins sooner than later. We have a support group meeting tonight hopefully I'll learn more about the vitimin D part of it.

Maybe you should celebrate your birthday before your surgery and then afterwards? I have my pre-op assessment at the hospital on Jan 7th then on Jan. 8th is when I start my wonderful liquid diet..... I think as the time gets closer everyone gets a little nervous I'm sure I will feel the same way soon. Hang in there and we can do this together.....

We can help each other thru that also. I'm getting a little nervous, after reading a few of the horror stories on this listserv. But I know the Lord will be with me (us) on the 21st of January. My birthday is the 24th... I guess there will no cake for me :-)

That's so cool we can be surgery buddies!!!!!! Keep me posted on how things are going for you. Do you have to do a 2 week liquid diet also?

Hi Amy,
Things do happen for a reason and we should all come out much healthier by listening to our doctors. I was supposed to have surgery on 11/5/07, but am delayed until 1/7/08. HOPEFULLY, when I go in next Friday for a recheck, my ulcer will be healed enough to allow me to start the new year with my surgery.
I do know how disappointing it can be though. Keep thinking positively on the long term outcome. I've started thinking about how many times I've started loosing wait on January 1st just to fail... NOT this year!

Words can not express the way I feel. I'm excited, nervous, scared, happy, and READY!! My date is January 21, 2008. My birthday is January 24th... Happy Birthday to me. 2008 is my new beginning and I can't wait.
