Hi Everyone, I discovered this website and forum just today. I started the process to have gastric bypass surgery a longgg time ago. I'm from Canada and will be having surgery in the US, and my date was recently set for January 9th. On boxing day, I start a two week pre-op liquid diet of Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added type) and protein powder. I will also be allowed other sugar free/caffeine free drinks, and jello. I will also remain on the same liquid diet for two weeks POST-op, so I'll be having nothing but Instant Breakfast for a month (not like I'll feel much like eating after surgery, anyway). Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself; I'd like to stay around! Shannon

I was the 16th, but moved to the 15th... I bought a magic bullet blender thingy. I am getting sugar free popsicles, s/f jello cups, s/f pudding cups. I am also totally in love with Special K Protein water. I buy the packets of powder in the iced tea flavor and love them! They have 5g of protein and 5g dietary fiber in them. They have helped me increase my protein iintake and also have made me "regular" again with the bathroom. (tmi??) Lots of low cal brothy soups too. Some Dr's don't like you to have baby foods, but some are ok with it. If you have any that you remember tasting that weren't bad, pick up them if your dietician is ok with that. Good Luck!

It was January 16th, but my surgeons office called me back and told me that had to change it to the 15th. I think I can deal with that! ;)

I can't wait. I feel as though my life has been in limbo since I started persuing this surgery, and I am finally at the end of the journey and at the end of my life as "the fat girl" The nightmares have started increasing in occurence. I am having dreams where the surgery approval is revoked, i have the surgery and I am a failure, or I have the surgery and I am eternally sick. I recognize these as just my insecurities and fears. It is interesting that I actually got this date. this date has some significance for me in the past. on Januray 3rds past, I have made some major life altering decisions, and i guess this January 3rd will be no different!

My surgery date is 1/4/08. I am all cleared for surery finished my last tests yesterday and now I am starting my pre-diet of the protien shakes and stuff today. I cant wait my new life will begin soon. I am so excited. Is there any good advice out there for me. I am having the lap band. Tina
