I'm right there with all of you!!! Tuesday is only 4 days away ...and I have the same anxiety. The one thing that has stuck in my head this entire time is what my surgeon told me....he said, this is a pretty easy operation in the scheme of things....it's a piece of cake...I'm keeping that in my head this entire time. My big deal is not gaining any weight, trying to lose more, and waiting for the liquid diet, bowel prep starting Sunday, where I know I will not turn back!! See you all on the loser's bench ....gawd I love sayin that!! Kelly

So you have joined the club!! I started on 1/1 and will have to be on this for 2 weeks..I found that it tastes somewhat better mixed in no fat yoghurt and do mix protein powder in lean soup in the evenings. You can get kind of neutral tasting high protein, no fat, no carb powder which is doable. Good luck with it and it does prepare you for what comes next, I find my anger is not just about the bad tasting food but is also related to saying good bye to a very very close friend, her name is comfort food, keep it up, anneke

Way to go Lakisha, congratulations on making it through! I've heard that that is common because during the procedure, some surgeons blow air into your abdomen...as well as the iv they are putting in a lot of fluids...hope this helps... Kelly

Topic: Excited but scared
I am scheduled for surgery on 1/10/08 and the doctor told me to lose some weight prior to surgery to help shrink my liver. If I gain anything he will cancel the surgery. I am trying very hard but don't seem to be losing anything. I am drinking two shakes a day and eating a high protein dinner. I am excersing but not as much as I should. Can anyone help me with ideas to lose quicker. I am not starving but have cravings. So far I have not given in to them. Help!!!!!!

You are not nuts. My date is the 9th and it seems like it's been an emotional roller coaster ever since my pre-op visit. I go from terrified to really excited. I went and paid for the hostpital and everything last Friday and was so scared I thought I wanted to back out. There is a post on another forum about fear that helped calm me somewhat: http://vsgfaq.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=19 It also helps me to read about everyone's wonderful success when I get all freakey. I will remember you in my prayers this week and be sending tons of good vibes your way. Be sure and let me know how you are doing as soon as you feel up to it.

I can see why the liquid diet is so bad...it's boring. I find it filling, but I miss things that I normally would enjoy. I would keep the cheating to the bare minimum...just so there aren't any complications with surgery...do the best you can! Some people add things, like sugar free flavourings. Try broths, too!
