Tracey, I have all my tests done except for the pre-op blood work. I hear they take a ton of tubes of blood. Yes, let's keep in touch. My personal e-mail is mary122554@yahoo.com if you would want to e-mail me directly. Mary

I have been battling with nausea since the day of my surgery on 1/2/08. Any advice about foods or drink to get over it?

Hi Ana, My surgery is also scheduled for the 14th. My doctor requires a week of clear liquids before surgery. I am starting day three today. I have a cup of tea, a cup of broth (low sodium), a cup of sugar free jello, and a sugar free popsicle basically three times a day. In between I am drinking water, propel, crystal light, etc. I am not actually hungry...but like others have mentioned I miss chewing, texture, taste. I am not having any cravings...but when I find myself wanting more...then I allow myself to have another sugar free jello or popsicle. There are hardly any calories in these items. Some other people have told me I can have soup, protein shakes, or anything that fits through a straw...but I am going to follow the hand out given to me by the doctor..I am eating what it says...just a little more and it is still working. I keep reminding myself it is only for a week...I can do anything for a week...lol! I know it shrinks the liver making surgery safer and so I will do WHATEVER I need to do to make it safer. Best of luck to you. God Bless Hollie

The best of luck to you, too, Tracey. Are you having the RNY or LapBand?

Thanks so much, Kate! Back right at ya. I am feeling pretty good about my upcoming surgery. I just got back from an entire day with my surgeon, anesthesiologist and a pre-op class. I am glad I went -- feel more at ease. Take care my friend! I hope things go smoothly with you.

Has anyone had the pleasure of Dr. Robert Marvin doing your surgery? I am nervous I don't get to meet him until the 16th to go over everything. But noone in his office (staff) has mentioned to me about a liquid diet. I am assuming it will be maybe a 5 day liquid diet...not sure does anyone know???
