Topic: RE: Still in pain
When I had my two week follow up I asked about the pain around the belly button and my doc said it's normal since he played with my stomach muscles. Good luck with everything.

Well I will be 2 weeks out tomorrow and I still have alot of pain in my left side like a pulled muscle. I also have a burning over my belly button like the tissue is riping, does anyone know if this is normal?
Topic: RE: Two weeks out
I'm 5 days out and always tired. I guess I'm not getting enough nutrients. What are you doing to have so much energy?

Mmmm...frappuccino!
I could drink the protein before surgery, but after surgery something changed and I couldn't stomach it anymore. Good luck!
Topic: RE: Any feed back on Dr. Douglas Krahn, MD
Dr. Krahn just did my surgery on January 30th. He is THE BEST! Very caring, knowledgeable, comforting, I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I had an RNY and had some adhesions from previous hernias that he took care of also, I have met NO patients that have anything bad to say about him. When I was in his office for an appt last week, there were several band patients there for their fills, and they were all very enthusiastic about him. You will be in VERY good hands with Dr. Krahn. Good luck!

I can't drink the protein, either. I just can't. I'm just over three weeks out, on the soft diet.
I drink a glass of milk/day. I'm going to try hard to increase that, but I really can't stand the taste. I picked up some soy milk, and then some skim milk, to determine what tastes best.
I try to eat higher protein foods, like tuna salad (mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with Fage yogurt and mayo/miracle whip), string cheese wrapped with a slice of chicken/turkey breast, refried beans and cheese on a cracker dipped in Fage yogurt, hummus, pea soup. Oooh, I make a smoothie that's really good - milk, banana, Fage yogurt and a dab of low-sugar jam (you could even leave the jam out).
I haven't been able to get more than 40-50 gr. of protein/day, and my NUT wants 60 grams. But it's hard to eat still, so I'm working on it. Good luck, it's definitely tough, especially when I can't stand the thought of eating!

I hate the milky type protein drinks. I found one called Raspberry Passion by Proti15. It tastes just like kool-aid and has 15 grams of protein
Topic: RE: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOUR APPROVED FOR SURGERY?
All depeding on your surgeon...and your insurance. Typically surgeons like to see about a 5% reduction before surgery, this again is only what my surgeon wanted. Now your insurance may make steeper demands- 15% I do know that 3d before surgery you can only have clear liquids (this was my 5% contribution) some like their pt to start a small portion diet a couple of weeks before so that you are aware of what your portion size with be...it all depends on the doctor. Don't worry. Ask questions. You will be OK and on the loser's bench soon.
Hope this helped

Anita, Im glad to hear that you are feeling better- Hope to hear good things on your 2wk apt!!. Things do get easier- trust me. If you are anything like me, after my surgery, I felt like there was this loss inside that I didn't think I would be able to have, even just a little bit. Afraid I was going to screw something up, eat the wrong things, or even worse, not even to start losing weight. The fear of the unknown is common. Trust yourself. When in doubt, do exactly what your doctors tell you to do, they are the experts and tell yourself that you are doing everything right.
take care!!
