Topic: RE: It feels great!!!!
THAT IS AWESOME! Doesn't your life feel different? This is the first thing I have done that I actually believe I'll make it to my goal weight. Its over 50 solid pounds...hard to wrap your brain around isn't it. Makes you wonder how you'll feel when you are down 100 lbs. I am excited for you and me! WE are gonna make it. I had regrets too at first, but now I am embracing my new lifestyle.
Topic: It feels great!!!!
I have lost 51.5 lbs since January 3rd, 2008. It feels fabulous. I can eat many different things but there are also things that do not agree with me. Sugar does not pose a problem but sometimes milk does. Cabbage and broccoli are no longer my friends. I get very sick when I eat them so I have chosen to eliminate them from my diet. Avocado is my new favorite food.
I had many regrets during the first 4 weeks post-op. I now am so grateful that I had the procedure done. Not only because of the new tool but I feel like I have a whole new world waiting for me and I want to take advantage of it.

Topic: RE: Weight loss
Simply Me! (Love the name)
Don't get discouraged. I am 8 weeks out and I have lost 36lbs. I have to keep reminding myself that fat weighs less than muscle and so it will take longer to lose the weight if you are losing fat. Stay active! Keep up the proteing and everything should fall into place. My doctor told me that it will probably take me the whole year to lose the weight so I am trying to be patient. It is a life change, it won't happen over night.

Topic: RE: some food issues
I personallyhave not had any issues with meat, however I know many people in my support group have mentioned they cannot tolerate it. I have found however that many of the foods that I used to like, are at times repulsive to me now... like Tuna Fish.
Topic: RE: weight stall for 4+ weeks
I think it just must be us January people!! I too hit that "hibernation syndrome" at about 3 weeks and it lasted a couple of weeks and then hit it again around week 6 -7. I was told to up my calories to 800-1000. Which was difficult but then I started eating a couple of small snacks, cheese stick etc, and that helped get up there in calories. I just cant seem to get to the right mix of calories, carbs, fats. But on the upside you will see that when you measure you will have lost several inches !! That does help when you see it on paper. I had lost over 5 inches in my hips last time I checked. So it is working. My thought is maybe if its slower there will be less skin hanging and more time for my body to keep up and just feel better. These crazy thoughts do run thru my head from time to time, like did he do something wrong, Did he forget to hook part a to part b lol??? And I sometimes want to eat sugar or fried foods just to see if I get sick. Like I want proof. I know crazy talk right??? There was another lady at the support group that was a few days after me and she had hit the same problems. Guess I really should call the NUT and just clarify everything I'm doing is correct. Good Luck, Toni
Topic: RE: How Much? How Fast?
Hi I was at a support group meeting the other night and someone brought up the Lap Band, that eventually said they have to remove them, that it doesnt stay permanently, which surprised me. I thought OMG what do they do after they remove it, I had never heard or thought that far in advance about down the road... after the weight loss. I too wanted the lap band in the beginning since I was a self pay and it was alot cheaper. Then the more I read I realized it wasn't for me. So I chose the RNY and even though my loss isnt as fast as I would like, (36.5 pounds so far) I feel very happy about my decision. There is a reason why most insurance companys dont pay for lapbands, but they pay for RNY guess they know something longer term than us? Does the surgeon you consulted do both surgeries? I was at my 6 week check up and a young girl was in there and she had the lapband and her father had the RNY the same day, she had lost 25 pounds and wasnt loosing at all anymore and her father had lost like 75 pounds. That would be so frustrating while they are guessing with her "fills" her father was dropping tons of weight. It was a very eye opening story. No idea if this helps you at all... But good luck, Toni
