Topic: Happy birthday to me....TWICE!!!!
I was scheduled for RNY on November 5th but found out I am anemic. My new date is January 14th, 14 days before my birthday. I'm not so thrilled that my surgery will not be on Monday, but I think it's extra sweet to have it in my birthday month...sweet because I get extra presents. It's my Christmas all over again. I just wanted to say to the rest of the January babies that I will be praying for uneventful surgeries and uncomplicated recoveries for all of us. Good luck everybody..........

Hello, Karli. I am a January re-birther as well...January 14th, 14 days before my birthday. I was originally a November girl but God had other plans. Good luck with your approval for VSG; but if not you can still rock the world as a RNYer.

Just wanted to drop in and say congrats on your surgery dates. I too uncovered a problem; I am anemic for the millionth time. I had been anemic before but got my levels back to normal. For some reason, my levels are low again. My original date was November 5th but was postponed until January 14th, 14 days before my birthday. I was upset at first but knowing my God, He more than likely said "not yet". So, to find out why I keep becoming anemic, I have to see a hematologist on Friday. I see iron infusions in my near future. Well good luck and have a happy and fun journey.

Hi, I'm waiting in the wings for my re-birthday on January 14th. My orginal date was November 5th but was postponed due to my anemic state. I was sad at first but ok now...better to correct the problem now than to wait after surgery...they wouldn't do it anyway. Let us know when you find out your date. Good luck..........

Topic: Hi fellow January LOSERS!
I am having either RNY or VSG (waiting on outcome of insurance appeal for VSG) on January 2, 2008. I am SO excited! Everything is done and ready to go, I'm just waiting for Jan 2 to hurry up and get here. I am a retail manager, so decided that Nov and Dec would not be the best time to make this huge lifestyle change and take 2 weeks off. Looking forward to getting to know any other January folks!

Hi All! I'm hoping for my surgery to be in late Dec or early January as well, but I'm guessing mid-January if all goes well with my surgery. I had to switch from Preferrd Care to one of the blues as PC wanted me to do the 6 month diet - My new ins coverage will begin January 1 - and hopefully they will accept me since everything else was done before then. Have a wonderful day!

Hi, I was originally scheduled for WLS on November 5, 2007; however, a number of health related issues were diagnosed during testing which have to be cleared up before surgery. My date has now been pushed to January 7, 2008. After yearly physicals with my doctor and for work, I'm a little put off that these issues are just now being uncovered, but I suppose it is all for the best. I too share problems with exercise unrelated to the issues found in testing, but x-rays confirmed suspected OA in my knees in addition to RA, which I already receive treatment. I'm looking forward to being able to exercise again without as much pain.

If everyone is like me, you'll be in great shape by surgery. Besides all of the mandatory tests, I noticed knee pain, burning etc. when I tried to excercise. I had it checked out and ended up having arthroscopic surgery (it was much worse than expected.) Preparing for this life changing journey really makes you pay attention to your whole body. I really look forward to being healthy and thinner. Time is passing quickly but I am grateful for the(6 mo. wait) time to fully prepare for this adventure. Has anyone else found problems they did not know about while doing testing and excercise?

My insurance requires 6 months as well, 2 months down 4 more to go. I am working on following the dieticians goals for me. No drinking 1/2 hour before eating or after eating. Eating small amounts and really chewing my food well. No watching T.V. when I eat. Has your dietician given you any goals?
