I'm actually having a good time with the liquid diet. Don't get me wrong - it was hard in the first few days because I started around Christmas time. New Year's Eve was hard, too. I'm not hungry AT ALL, just occassional cravings. I make meals for my family and don't mind cooking, even not being able to sample! Good luck! Not much longer!

Hi Ana I am not really fasting, but on a preop liquid diet of shakes that replace meals. The shakes contain high levels of protein. I am doing okay so far on three shakes a day but enjoy the little snack I allow myself. I have green salad with no dressing, a tomato, some carrots, one apple a day. I just alleviates the boredom of the shakes enough and esp the need to occasionally actually chew my food! So far I am never hungry which is great and I already lost 2kg on this diet. How is your fasting going? My date is 17/01//2008. Sanne

Hi Ana, I only have to do a clear liquid diet the day before surgery so in that regards I am holding up fine so far. My surgery is also scheduled for the 14th. I am more excited than nervous. I do have young children, so I am dealing with the occasional fear of the "what if's" but mostly I am just so excited to lose this weight and gain some energy to play with them! I will be thinking of you on OUR day! LOL

Hi Ana, My surgery is also scheduled for the 14th. My doctor requires a week of clear liquids before surgery. I am starting day three today. I have a cup of tea, a cup of broth (low sodium), a cup of sugar free jello, and a sugar free popsicle basically three times a day. In between I am drinking water, propel, crystal light, etc. I am not actually hungry...but like others have mentioned I miss chewing, texture, taste. I am not having any cravings...but when I find myself wanting more...then I allow myself to have another sugar free jello or popsicle. There are hardly any calories in these items. Some other people have told me I can have soup, protein shakes, or anything that fits through a straw...but I am going to follow the hand out given to me by the doctor..I am eating what it says...just a little more and it is still working. I keep reminding myself it is only for a week...I can do anything for a week...lol! I know it shrinks the liver making surgery safer and so I will do WHATEVER I need to do to make it safer. Best of luck to you. God Bless Hollie
