Topic: Menstrual cycle-Questions?
Good morning ladies,
I went yesterday for my GYN appt. I will be 42 in April and have been have problems with my cycle not be regular for 2-3 years now. Two years ago when I went in and told her about the problems she said she wanted me to have a cycle every 3 months at least. At them time she did blood work and the two tests she did showed I was in the "low" range but not yet in menopause. She ran the blood work again yesterday and I am awaiting the results.
My questions are these:
1. Is there anyone else who is no longer regular. I have not had but 2-3 periods since my surgery. Granted I was on my period the day of surgery but I have only had 2 maybe 3 since then and nothing since early last summer
2. She wants me to take the premarin every 3 months if I don't have a period within that time because she says that it is unhealthy to let the lining of the uterus build up. What I don't get is if my estrogen levels are low but not necessarily in the "menopause" stage would I really have that much of uterine lining built up in the first place??
3. Is premarin safe to use?
Thanks ladies for your responses,
Sandy

A year ago today I went into the OR and had my lap RNY. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. No regrets at all. I am down -135 lbs post op and -169 lbs including my mandatory pre op weight loss. I am down 120". I've gone from a very tight 26/28 bottom and 3-4X tops to a comfortable size 10 bottoms and M tops. My size 8 pants even go on and button... but are a little too snug for comfort for daily wear, at least just yet at least. I started out this journey with severe asthma problems, waiting for my diabetic family history & gestational diabetes history to catch up with me, severe joint problems, and a horrendous case of Severe Obstructive Sleep apnea. I no longer have sleep apnea... I no longer have joint problems, I headed diabetes off at the pass! It has been a most amazing year. I will not wax poetic here but I just did on my blog if you care to read it & my entire one year's ramblings LOL. New one year picts will go up when I have somebody home to take them for me
To the newbies... this journey is so worth everything you have to go through to begin your new life. Don't give up in your pursuit of health. It is the most amazing gift.

Right now I have complete trust in faith in my God. I just see this as another learning experience. And in a few years when Dwight come to your local conference center to minister about God's grace and provision in our lives you will hear of how he increased us through this battle. That's just it, in the midst of storms he is our refuge!!!

Jen, please do not feel like you have not done well. You have..like the others say 80 lbs in my book is a success. I know exactly what you are going through. I have the same thing plus Fibromyalsia. Occassionally I have to take steroids when it flares out of control and I do stop losing and I have a feeling that is why I fluctuate so much. You can do it. This is just me but if you are going to exercise you are going to need those meds. I was lucky and decided to exercise right from the get go and yes I do it even when I am in pain and like you said I just work through it. It depends on how I am feeling on what type of cardio I do and how much weight I lift. What meds are you on? I am on Enbril my doc has changed it to one shot twice a week which I give myself plus I am on 6 methotrexate a week. Before that played havoc on my liver as well but so far so good. It is just a matter of finding something that works for you. Demand it of your Rheumatologist...that's what you pay them for. I also take prednisone for when it flares up really bad. This morning was a tough one both wrists hurt as well as my right elbow. I've stopped running as it made my knees swell. Given your cir****tances I think you have done tremendous!! It's just going to take you a little longer because of the meds. You'll get there. Please feel free to call me. I am sending you a pm with my number. Sometimes it just helps to talk to someone.
Hugs,
Anna

Lori, I am so sorry to hear this. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and sending you lots of hugs. I know you will get through this. I am glad you caught this early. Please keep us updated. On a weird note. I go to my doc every year without fail around my birthday as well as the mammos. My doctor told me they no longer do paps every year but now are doing it every other year. After hearing your story I am now concerned as this was the year he didn't do a pap. Maybe I need to insist on one being done. Well food for thought. Thank you so much for reminding us that even though we now feel healthy we still need to do preventative care as well. God Bless you and I pray that the hysterectomy will take care of it.
Hugs,
Anna
